Looking for some “goes with everything” knitwear?!

I’m looking to replace hoodies/sweatshirts with knits. In trying to sort my ‘loungewear/lockdown’ look (that many of us have been trying to do!), I’m looking for cardis and jumpers that will look ‘cool’ and thrown on to ‘relax’ some of my dressier pieces!

Would love some ideas/links!

Thank you in advance. 😊

I've been looking for the perfect thrown-on cardi that I've discovered is called (presumably by people way more fashionable than me) a "cocoon" cardi but cannot for the life of me find a lovely one. I wanted dark brown as opposed to black, which I guess isn't helping. I'm saying this in case that word is as new to you as it was to me and you might have more success if you're on the lookout for a different colour...? Sorry I don't have any links to share!

Boden have 58 cardigans. There must be something you like? M&S have loads of pullovers. I like &OtherStories who have the best modern cardigans. Slightly short, ribbed or plain and relaxed! Perfect in my view.

&Otherstories have oatmeal ones. Brown is a bit??

SummaLuvin · 24/02/2021 18:51

If you have a bit of room in your budget check out Genevieve Sweeney. Small, ethical British brand, nice designs that can be dressed up or down.

FreshFaceTime · 24/02/2021 19:21

@PresentingPercy well I want something dark and brown suits me more than black or grey, so...

Oatmeal would just wash me out. I have loads of burgundy but was on the hunt for something neutral that would work with a tan bag. Brown seemed the obvious choice but clearly not because I can't find what I'm looking for.

Look at woolovers and house of bruar. they'll probably have something.

this one £££?

this one?

PinkyParrot · 24/02/2021 19:42

Benetton have some nice bright colours, and more neutral ones.

FreshFaceTime · 24/02/2021 19:44

Thanks will have a look at those suggestions. I couldn't get the first link to work. Think the 2nd one looks a bit trendy for me but that might just be the model... sorry for jumping in on your thread with my brown cardi crap @MadameSapphire

Have a look at McCauleyElliot knitwear on Instagram. Small mother and daughter indie shop with some gorgeous individual pieces at very reasonable prices

I like the look of some of the Whistles ribbed cardigans, there’s a nice oatmeal and a blue, I just wish I could go into John Lewis and see what they actually feel like. They have 20% off at the moment so might take the plunge anyway.

Love your username @ProfessorInkling!

Uniqlo merino cardigans are great. I have a v neck men's one in a camel colour which is a good neutral for me.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/02/2021 20:07

I like Other Stories and Arket for cardis. There’s an Arket alpaca knit one which is SO perfect - v-neck, pockets, slightly boxy fit - that I have it in four colours. I wear it with crew-neck t-shirts or stripy tops underneath, but the models have it buttoned up more like a jumper.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses
Yes. Those are the ones!
