How do I use a conditioner bar?

I’m getting on brilliantly with lush shampoo bar. I got a blue conditioner bar but just don’t seem to be able to get any lather.

Am I doing it wrong? What should I expect with a conditioner bar - how does it work? I know I don’t get as much lather with liquid conditioner, but didn’t seem to be able to get any in my hair. I’ve seen a number of other companies recommended on other threads and prepared to try another one (I have coloured hair, at the moment getting grey as need a cut and colour).
Thanks

I've only experience of using an Ethique conditioner bar. It doesn't foam (although I didn't expect it to as I've never had a foaming conditioner). I just rub it over my hair or between my hands and then work it in, comb and rinse. Seems to work ok like that.

Yep I use Ethique too and it doesn't lather. None of the conditioner bars I've tried do - but they do still work. I've read quite a few negative reviews online (for various brands) where people comment on the lack of lather but in my experience the conditioner bars just don't really work like that. You just kind of rub them on the bits of your hair you want conditioned (so I don't rub it on my roots and pay more attention to the ends) leave it for a bit while you wash something else then rinse off. Takes a bit of getting used to.

Thanks - I’ll have another go, as long as I don’t have bright blue hair that’s fine.

"normal" liquid conditioner doesn't lather...

It doesn't but you can kind of feel a liquid spreading across your hair. You know it's there. With the bar I guess people want to be able to feel it in the same way - especially if they try to transfer from bar to hands and then onto hair. I find rubbing the bar directly on my hair works best but you don't feel it in the same way you do a liquid.

I soak mine at the beginning of the shower and then rub it on my hair. It doesn't lather like PP have said. Stick with it, it takes some practice but it's worth it!

I tried again and it worked better. Don’t condition my hair that often so definitely sticking with shampoo bars now.
