BB cream or foundation for sensitive skin that actually gives coverage

I wear very little makeup, always have done, but in my fifties my skin is looking uneven and my pores are quite large, uneven. I should maybe start wearing something with a bit of coverage, but I don't like foundation, I'm rubbish at applying it evenly and even when I've previously asked for advice in Boots the colour is never right.

Is there a not too expensive BB cream or similar that gives some coverage, suitable for sensitive skin, as I have psoriasis? I can't get to a store other than a small Boots or Superdrug locally, presuming they're open.

I got the Holland and Barrett advent calendar and it had a Dead Sea Magik BB cream in it and high has been excellent - I’ve just bought it again for £14. Very good light coverage and natural looking and very gentle.

Thanks, I'll have a look on their website.

I have a bare minerals tinted moisturiser that's nice. VERY light coverage so not sure if you want a bit more than that? You could try a primer underneath though and see if you get better results with both? It's £26 so not exactly low-budget, but I like it and I managed to pick the right shade online without seeing it in real life: www.feelunique.com/p/BareMinerals-Complexion-Rescue-Tinted-Moisturizer-SPF30-35ml

I've seen M&S bb tinted moisturiser recommended on here and it's on my list of ones to try, but haven't tried it yet. It's only a tenner though, so might be worth a punt? www.marksandspencer.com/bb-tinted-moisturiser-spf-15-30ml/p/hbp22510010?color=LIGHT&prevPage=srp

CC creams apparently give a bit more coverage than bb but less than foundation and I've seen people on here recommend the Olay total effects cc cream but, again, haven't actually tried it myself yet. www.boots.com/olay-total-effects-7in1-cc-cream-moisturiser-fair-to-medium-50ml-10163574

(Can you tell I've been doing some research?!)

Oh and have also seen people recommend the Ordinary serum foundation too so that's another one on my list. I don't think it's as heavy as a normal foundation but might be a bit heavier than what you want? Affordable if you want to give it a try. www.feelunique.com/p/The-Ordinary-Colours-Serum-Foundation-with-SPF-15-30ml?q=the+ordinary+foundation+serum&q_typ=f

All the ones I've been investigating are lower than foundation coverage because I don't wear it much and I'm happy with the full coverage one I have when I do use it. The bare minerals one is the most pricey out of the ones I've mentioned but I'm not prepared to splurge on high-end stuff till I've made a proper decision about how much coverage I want, which as you can see, I'm finding tricky!

Lots of suggestions there, thanks! I'll have a look at them. I'm reluctant to spend £26 without trying it first. Wish we could buy samples!

The thing that swayed me with the bare minerals moisturiser was that one of the reviews said don't worry if you're not sure about which shade to try because they have used a few. I think because the coverage is so light it isn't the end of the world if it's not quite right. But as i say, I'm lucky I got a good shade first time and have ordered the same one ever since, so didn't actually have to try out any other shades. I know what you mean about samples. I'd LOVE to be able to pop into Boots and try a load of different products right now!

Hate foundation but NOTE bb cream is excellent and so reasonable!

I really like the L'oreal BB cream was about a tenner when I bought it before. But honestly the holy grail of BB/tinted moisturizer type things it's the tinted moisturizer from Nars. It's not cheap it's about £31, but I get compliments on my skin all the time when I have it on.

Have you tried using findation.com for colour matching? It's worked pretty well for me

I like boots no7 city light tinted moisturiser

Coffeepot72 · 24/02/2021 23:02

Another vote for Boots City Light tinted moisturiser. No 7 also do a very good BB cream

Readyorknot · 25/02/2021 06:05

La roche posay BB has good coverage and spf 5o

YerAWizardHarry01 · 25/02/2021 06:18

I second The Ordinary serum foundation, I have very uneven/red/dry/oily skin and the coverage is just right

Thank you for all the recommendations

@SnakeRabbitMouse I'll bear that in mind. Really can't afford it at the moment, but will have to save!
