Throwing away old makeup

How often do you do this?

I'm decluttering and decided to work on my makeup bag. Some of the stuff I think may be from circa 2019 Blush. Obviously not stuff I use often.

I'm probably going to have to bin it all aren't I?

Depends on a few things. How sensitive is your skin? Is it cream or powder? Would you use these on anyone but yourself?

I am pretty relaxed with powder products as they don't harbour bacteria in the same way as creams and it's just me who is using it and I'm not especially sensitive. I don't clear out regularly but I have a strict one in one out policy on cosmetics to stop myself buying far too much, so I don't have loads.

2019? I have makeup that would be your makeup's granny.Shock I only dump if it's smelling funny or the texture has gone. Most makeup is good for a while.

@DioneTheDiabolist me too!

Ah ok! I'm beginning the old bb cream and foundation, but will hang on to the eyeshadow palette and mineral powders.

Thanks all Flowers

"your makeup's granny" Grin Grin

2019 is nothing! I keep mine for absolutely ages. Hardly ever wear full coverage foundation so a bottle lasts years. Don't wear eyeliner much these days so the one I have must be ancient. Can't remember if it's a Mac or Dior one but not a cheapie so I'm not chucking it out in case I suddenly decide to wear eyeliner and haven't got one.

Things I wear more often obviously don't hang around as long... bb/cc cream, mascara, lip balms, etc. I'd keep a lipstick for as long as it took to run out and they're probably the most germ-ridden gross things to keep hold of.

I have had a make-up declutter during lockdown though – partly due to boredom and partly so I could justify buying more! I try and stick to the one in one out thing but am testing out a few different bases at the moment trying to find a favourite tinted moisturiser/bb/cc cream/ light foundations or whatever so am going to struggle to stick to that rule while I'm experimenting!
