I always really struggle with the transition between autumn to spring and then spring to autumn. You know when you are out of boots and into trainers, out of coats but too cold for T-shirt? I’m really struggling! I need just casual ideas. I don’t like hoodies as they are too faffy around the neck as I have long hair I also hate any kind of scarves for the above reason. I don’t want to wear a fleece and can never find any cardigans without looking like my mum. I live in skinny jeans... what can I wear on my top? I don’t like long sleeve T-shirt’s as they seem to accentuate my sticky out belly...I’m also a short arse just to help. I’m late 30’s. Can anyone help?

Body con dress? What year is this? Over size blazer on a petite person swamps them. Neat and trim clothes work better. Dungarees are great on painters.

@PresentingPercy thank you!! I’m really not as fussy as I sound but half this stuff looked stupid on me as I’m small! I do like the sound of a casual blazer for sure. Needs to look good with trainers. A black one that I can Chuck over any T-shirt/top!

What works for me is skinny jeans (I actually prefer the black tweed-look leggings from Spanx), a long sleeve white tee or henley, layered with a gilet. Sorel makes a great rain boot with a little wedge, or I pair it with an over the knee boot or Hunter boot. I have slender legs and arms, but my tummy is my problem area. The slim bottoms, paired with a more substantial boot helps me feel more balanced. Same with a slim fitting tee or henley that is fitted to my arms, but the gilet hides my personal problem area. Depending on the weather, I can add an overcoat or scarf if needed.

@Hairobsessed123
That was a great list

Londontown12 · 25/02/2021 07:44

@JMAngel1
Thankyou and all things in the list can be fitted for petite tall small big skinny all sizes it’s buying the right fit for your body shape x

Whatnamesareleft · 25/02/2021 08:01

@Hairobsessed123 I couldn’t wear most on that list sadly but I do appreciate you trying. @WelliesWithHeels that’s basically me except on top of that I’m short. I work from home (always not just post pandemic) so 90% of my wardrobe is casual, I’m just struggling to get it right. Plus I’m self conscious which doesn’t help!

Jersey blazer. They’re everywhere - Hush, White Stuff, Boden...

Great for this time of year, soft and comfy but more structured than a cardigan.

Whatnamesareleft · 25/02/2021 08:10

A jersey blazer... I like the sound of that thanks I’ll have a look. How do you find a cardigan that suits?? I love long ones but look silly. Hate open cardigans so perhaps some kind of wrap cardigan....

Thanks for starting this thread OP. I'm having a similar dilemma this year, since I can now leave the house and socialise.

Whatnamesareleft · 25/02/2021 08:33

@ginandwineandbaileys exactly! I don’t want clothes to add to my concern when we will be set free soon!

I've been considering getting a light-weight utility-style jacket like this one
www.baukjen.com/collections/jackets-coats/products/drake-organic-utility-jacket-light-khaki

Would that style work for you?

Whatnamesareleft · 25/02/2021 11:40

@Pigtailsandall that sort of thing could definitely be an option although on me it would not be great due to the length, hip length of model would prob be mid thigh on me. Need something fitted and sort of waist length on jackets like that. Good idea though.
