Shoes to go with dresses?

Chocolatecake29 · 23/02/2021 13:51

I'm going to order some dresses to be more comfortable than jeans (endo bloat) but not sure what shoes to get. In the summer, I can wear sandles but while the weather is in between, what can I wear? I can't wear heels as I have two small kids for the school run with awkward steps!

What shoes would be best for dresses? An all rounder kind of style

I wear trainers with dresses.

greenemerald · 23/02/2021 15:33

I wear DMs or trainers, mainly trainers

FossilisedFanny · 23/02/2021 15:35

Trainers if you have to walk anywhere or ballet pumps .

Chocolatecake29 · 24/02/2021 13:44

Didn't think of trainers! Thanks 👍

Definitely trainers! Or nice sandals. Ballet pumps are a bit Royal on an official visit to me... some can look classically lovely but trainers are definitely more ‘now’

whoopsnomore · 24/02/2021 16:20

What do you wear , though for a work situation (semi-formal) where trainers are a no-no?

MoltonSilver · 24/02/2021 16:22

Ankle boots, while it's still tights weather.

Newfor2021 · 24/02/2021 16:25

Personally I love biker or cowboy boots with dresses

whoopsnomore · 24/02/2021 16:27

Yes, I have a very trusty (overused) pair of low-heeled "shoeboot" (Shoobs?) things which are going to give up on me one day...
ExConstance · 24/02/2021 16:39

I have some cream low heeled lace up boots from Whistles, look great with dresses if they are paler colours.

GinIsNotOriginal · 24/02/2021 16:52

I don’t want to hijack the thread but when are we declaring tights season as over? I am desperate to let go!

I reckon we're close - I'm seeing what the weather does next week and then hopefully drawing the line
BoogleMcGroogle · 24/02/2021 17:13

I wear dresses a lot and really like brogues with dresses for work. I have a shiny black pair which works in winter, and a less chunky silver pair made of really soft leather. I often wear quite bright tights (green, pink, yellow), which I like, but I'm not sure it's a mainstream view.

minniemoocher · 24/02/2021 17:34

For work I have ballet pumps or brogues, I have knee high boots for cold days and sandals if it's warmer

minniemoocher · 24/02/2021 17:35

@GinIsNotOriginal

I take it you live in Britain? We often get snow in late March! Weather is not predictable!

GinIsNotOriginal · 24/02/2021 18:11

@minniemoocher I am in the U.K. and just being optimistic Smile I realise we could have snow but I’m Thinking more, if it were to be warm next week (say 16 degrees) then would one look odd without tights? In the same way people can look odd not wearing a coat in certain months.
I really hope @Cindy87 is right!

FreshFaceTime · 24/02/2021 18:16

I wouldn't think about it if I saw you out and about but I need WAY more warmth before I'm anywhere close to declaring tights season over. Or in my case because I'm slobbing around at home in baggy everything, leggings season.

MagdasMadHouse · 25/02/2021 18:10

I wear trainers, or in deepest summer flip flops or sandals

DuzzyFuck · 25/02/2021 18:15

I wear dresses for work most of the time with either biker boots, flat knee high boots or a flat black shoe similar to below, sort of ballerina style but sturdier. Oh actually I also have some patent t-bar style with a low chunky heel, but they don't see daylight as often.

Slightly heeled brouges, pointy flats

Hate trainers with dresses. Only looks good on teens IMHO
