lockdown hair

So I won't be able to get to the hairdresser until at earliest April 12th.

We went into lockdown 3 days before I was due to have my quarterly visit to get my highlights done to make the grey less noticeable.

So that will be over 6 months ... looking very grey already. About 4 inches of dark/grey roots then the old blonde highlights kick in.

Are there any home colour kits that are easy and work? I don't want permanent colour, and would prefer something a bit more subtle. But I think home highlighting is too difficult to do ...

Thoughts?

I use L'Oreal Magic Retouch - spray on and wash out. It's good for touching up roots between colour visits. Comes in a range of colours.

However, my hair is not totally grey, just some grey hairs among the brown and a bit dull when it hasn't been coloured. I have no idea how well it would work on 4 inches of roots to be honest.

I have dark hair which I used to get dyed at the hairdressers. I got to the point where I couldn't stand my grey roots. I don't like the temporary sprays.
I've just tried a Clairol semi permanent dye in medium brown.

It was easy to use but I have stained the bathroom wall. It was darker than I thought it would be but OK for my hair colour.

It hasn't completely covered my grey roots but it is better than it was. I'm not sure my hairdresser will be very pleased with me in April though. Hopefully it will wash out before then.

I used an 8A Loreal on my roots.

Just carefully along the parting brush over the grey regrowth

Then part with a comb and pin up the lengths so it doesn't colour your blonde bits

Nadine Baggot does a great tutorial on you tube

Not perfect but better than the sprays and gave my blonde a bit of depth.

I've just used Clairol Baby Blonde on really bad roots on my mousey brown hair with greys everywhere. It looks great, really soft & the conditioner with it is enough for 8 washes after. I didn't put it on the ends as my hairdresser said that's where people go wrong with dye & it damages your hair to feck. I've never done it myself before & I'm so impressed!

My hairdresser has been mixing up my colour, and leaves it on her doorstep for me to collect and apply at home.
