Best gradual tanner for ‘trouble’ skin please??

I can not get on with any of them so I must be going wearing somewhere and hope some new ones have come on the market in the last year or so?!

I want one that doesn’t smell of fake tan but most importantly won’t go patchy like they seem to all do. I do exfoliate and I moisturise every day without fail but it still happens. I also get KP which is much better than it has been thanks to ameliorate. I have awful red knees and against my pale skin makes me not wear shorts or skirts int the summer Sad

Are you using the ameliorate when you fake tan? The active ingredient in that breaks it down and is the main ingredient in fake tan removers and would explain the patchiness. Fake tanning over KP (arms and legs) also often means it doesn't take as well.

No I have been using ameliorate over the last. 6 months. Haven’t used gradual tanner since at least summer 2019. Interesting though... so I can’t have smooth skin AND a nice colour?? Sad

You can but you have to time it well after a bit of trial and error. It's probably easier to use a proper long lasting tan like Vita Liberata that lasts about a week instead of a gradual one. Apply the ameliorate when the tan starts to fade after a couple of days, you'll have to see how it works for you but you can probably do a few days of amerloriate as the tan fades, it will just accelerate that process slightly, then apply tan again and wait a few days before using amerloriate again.

You could also switch to glycolic acid body lotion this doesn't break it down as quickly and can be good for KP and makes for a nicer tan base but not everyone has good results with it for their KP.

I’d recommend Tropic summer Skin

The only glycolic body lotion I found was pixi and it is expensive and I hate the rose smell. Are there any better ones?? I don’t want to use actual fake tan as that’s even worse than gradual tanner!

Never heard of tropic summer skin thanks.

I use one that I order from the US, Alpha Skin Care. Appreciate that isn't helpful, I've also purchased recently (but yet to use) the Amanda Harrington tanning set and that came with a glycolic body scrub which hopefully will be good as it's made with tanning prep in mind.

You could also consider Vita Liberata body blur, it's not an actual tan (although there is a version with gradual tanner in it but I don't rate that one) more like a temporary skin perfector with colour which looks like a tan. It's very nice on legs especially, you just wash it off at the end of the day.

Oh a bit like sally Henson type thing? My legs are awful which is hitting as they aren’t in bad shape! It’s just the skin! Horrible red knees (don’t care they are knobbly!) and horrible little red dotty blobs
