I'm late 30s and starting to see some frown lines. What's the best product to halt these? Retinol? Or maybe botox?

I use both. Botox obviously has a much more immediate and drastic effect, but can be much more costly. It can prevent future lines from forming, as you're no longer moving the muscles that form those lines. I have a small amount of botox 4x per year, and then use a retinol product daily.

With retinol, it can cause flaking, dryness and redness. I've also had tretinoin (Retin-a) on prescription before for years and just could not get on with it, even though I built up use gradually my skin was always irritated. I find retinol easier to deal with, although the results aren't as impactful. I especially like the Paula's Choice range of retinol products, my advice would be to start on a lower strength one and work your way up gradually over time to minimise irritation.
