Replacement for Merrell Wakefield?

Back in the day (I don't even want to think about how long ago it was), I bought a non-insulated Merrell Wakefield on countless recommendations on Mumsnet. It's been the perfect coat, still looks good as new, but I've gained a bit of weight and it's now a little tight, so I'd like to replace it, and am looking to MN once again. I've done a search, and see the Seasalt Janelle mentioned quite a bit, but I'm not sure I'm that keen, and also concerned of its technical abilities? Also see Didriksons recommended a lot, and do like the look of some of their coats. Quite fancy a parka shape maybe.

Things I love about the Wakefield and would want to replicate:

Technical - excellent waterproof ability
Knee length
Double zip
Lots of deep pockets
Hood that stays up
Works for both rural walks and also my commute from the sticks to the city
Relatively stylish

So lovely Mumsnet posters who also have/had a Wakefield, what's the coat du jour now?

Bumping for you! I am still wearing my Wakefield but finally after almost 6 years of constant wear it's looking a bit tired and I could do with a replacement as well. When I bought it it felt like a big expense but on a cost per wear basis I think it must beat everything else I own

It would probably be better to keep the coat and lose the weight! There’s nothing like nice clothes sitting in my wardrobe unable to be worn to focus my mind on eating better.

Saw a recommendation for Rains (a Danish brand) in the paper the other day. I've not heard of them before but they had some nice looking coats?

It was a Rains Curve jacket I liked the look of (not sure about the styling though!)

I have one of these Didriksons coats and love it.

It's not massively warm (I add layers underneath) but it's totally waterproof, has brilliant pockets, the hood is big and stays up, the sleeves are long enough, it covers my bum and I have had lots of compliments when wearing it!

Thanks everyone.

The coat was snug even when I bought it, I don't think the weight is going anywhere other than the wrong direction as I get older 😂.

The Rains coats all look very fashion-y, might stick out a bit here in ruraldom. Didriksons looks good.

Today I bumped into a v stylish friend, and lo and behold, she was wearing a Seasalt Janelle (I think Janelle). It looked great on her, and she sang its praises as the perfect lockdown coat.

Started looking at Protected Species, but the only reviews I can see are from those gifted via being influencers...

So I'm no further along, might wait for shops to open to actually see things in person...
