Vitamin C serum recommendations?

SnowCrocus · 19/02/2021 22:08

I've been using the Super Glow vitamin C face serum from Glossier and quite like it, but now I'm running low I wonder if there are other good (or better) vitamin C serums I should try. I have oily skin with giant pores, and am in my 40s.

I like REN, but I have dry crêpey skin with small pores so we are probably skin-opposites Grin

SnowCrocus · 21/02/2021 15:39

Possibly 😊 but the Ren reviews do look good (I hadn't heard of it before). Is it the gel cream you use, or the radiance perfecting serum?

I used the gel cream, but now have the serum too

I loved the allies of skin vitamin c serum but I’ve heard it’s divisive, it’s very thick and gloopy but my skin loved it and moisturiser glided on like a dream over the top of it.
I am waiting for the next space nk GWP before I buy a replacement and in the meantime am using the medik8 one which is nice, it’s an oil but if you use 4-5 drops it’s not greasy. I don’t love it as much as the AOS though.
Disclaimer, I have no idea what it’s actually meant to do, I just like using it Grin

My holy grail is Vichy LiftActiv.
I've tried:
Garden of Wisdom- ok, but slimy texture
The Ordinary- totally hideous, like most of their products, binned it
La Roche Posay, using this at the moment. Won't repurchase. It's ok but has a stupid dropper thing that isn't a dropper, and contains salicylic acid which I hadn't realised so I can't use it every day without ending up red.

The Vichy is fabulous. It's watery and transformed my skin. I should just have carried on buying that but I like LRP so thought I'd give theirs a go.

I have really been impressed with Boots ingredients one. It was one offer, so gave it a go and I am glad I did.

FlipperSkipper · 21/02/2021 21:43

Beauty pie vitamin c capsules are amazing, best vitamin c I’ve tried.

OrangeBlossom28 · 21/02/2021 21:46

Vit C serum is one of the few things I've not tried. What difference does it really make?

EasterIssland · 21/02/2021 21:51

I’ve started using drunk elephant.

hopeishere · 21/02/2021 21:53

I use the Emma Hardie one and rally like it. Smells lovely too.

Lollypop701 · 21/02/2021 22:10

Elizabeth Arden capsules and love them

Nitpickpicnic · 22/02/2021 04:19

Enchanted Waters (yeah, poxy name) make a very potent one at a good price. Also the Medik8 one. Strong, so test them first.

BigButtons · 22/02/2021 09:43

I make my own then I know it’s fresh and potentSmile

SnowCrocus · 22/02/2021 15:24

Thanks all, a lot of good options to choose from!

OrangeBlossom28, everyone's experience is subjective, but here's a summary of what the benefits of vitamin C serums are thought to be: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/325801

Same. Those alone make the membership worthwhile.
WellTidy · 22/02/2021 17:22

I’ve only ever tried Pixi vitamin c serum and I wasn’t impressed. It oxidised badly well before I was able to finish the bottle and I didn’t see any improvement.

schmalex · 22/02/2021 17:56

I've just started using the Vichy LiftActiv based on a recommendation here and I like it so far. It's vitamin C + hyularonic acid, which is exactly what I need.

Ones I've used and don't like are the LRP and Sunday Riley CEO Glow.

OrangeBlossom28 · 22/02/2021 20:42

@SnowCrocus Thanks for the link. I think I need to look into getting a serum.

MsHedgehog · 22/02/2021 23:25

Oskia capsules for me...really recommend them!

DK123 · 22/02/2021 23:28

I use the Obagi one, it's very good
