Best blonde box dye for dark roots?

Has anyone successfully dyed their dark/mousey roots to a nice shade of blonde (that isnt orange) at home? I'm fed up with my lockdown hair so am contemplating home dye kits. I know, this could end terribly

Should I use a prelightner first? What's the best box dye to get a good blonde shade?

Any advice or tips welcome!

Am sure other threads on this so do a search, generally box dyes dont lift enough to lighten...maybe only 2 levels so you may get the orange roots..!!..a few brands claim on the packet that they lift up to 4 levels but i doubt it...best to ligthen first....powder bleach and 20 vol peroxide.
