Baukjen - which hoodie?

Acunningruse · 18/02/2021 16:16

I see Baukjen recommended a lot on here for sweatshirts and joggers. I am wondering which hoodie to order as they all seem much of a muchness, apart from a couple being longerline I'm struggling to see the difference. Any recommendations?

I'm petite- 5ft 1 size 10/12 if that makes a difference.
Thanks!

If your 5’ 1” then don’t get longline. I’m 5’ 7.5” and longline is lovely length on me, so regular should be good for you.
Very good quality and washes well. I have the abbey leggings and burgundy longline sweater bought recently and love them.
I’ve been wearing Baukjen for years and very good quality. Good sales too.

This is me 5'1 size 10 top in this from baukjen

Baukjen - which hoodie?
migrainehell · 18/02/2021 20:41

That looks really nice 😊

LaurieFairyCake · 18/02/2021 21:06

That pink hoody is lovely on you

frenchfancy55 · 18/02/2021 22:08

That hoody looks great on you! I have the same- and in grey and navy and eighteen months on abs lots of wear they still look good. Highly recommend.

Sooverthemill · 19/02/2021 08:37

Thank you! It's the only hoodie I have ever worn and I love it. So soft and cosy and perfect for chilling at home. Tempted by a different colour but may wait for a sale. BOTW20 may still give 20% discount though

GeidiPrimes · 19/02/2021 08:47

I have that Marte hoodie in washed orange - they're unbelievably soft and it's washed well.

TroyTown · 19/02/2021 18:56

I’ve just bought the one without pockets that is not longer line, in soft white. It is really nice. Tried it under their Kara leather jacket in cream (bought that last month) and it looks gorgeous - can’t wait to wear it.

readwritelove · 19/02/2021 19:41

I have the Marte hoody too in patchouli (pink) - it’s really soft and comfy and nice and fleecy inside.

Sooverthemill · 20/02/2021 09:19

@TroyTown that sounds fab - would love one of their leather jackets. I have two ( hush and pure collection) but a Baukjen one would be wonderful

@readwritelove I ordered that colour hoodie but the colour did nothing for me sadly! I am jealous

TroyTown · 20/02/2021 09:29

sooverthemill the generous key worker discount is helpful I must admit 😉😀

Sooverthemill · 20/02/2021 09:34

@TroyTown I have considered using that as DH is NHS but because it's not for him and he's not front line I haven't. I did use an NHS discount for a new cooker though!

Acunningruse · 21/02/2021 08:23

Thanks all! I still haven't taken the plunge as they are so expensive but I am trying to buy things which will last. I am local government so classed as keyworker for some purposes but guessing they (rightly) mean NHS?

Sorry to jump on this thread but I'm tempted by the Oregon sweatshirt... it looks so comfy and I'm not a big hoodie fan. Has anyone got the sweatshirt and would you recommend it?

BilboBercow · 21/02/2021 08:45

Genuine question and not trying to be a dick. What is it that makes that perfectly nice but basic looking hoodie worth £80?

whiskyremorse · 21/02/2021 08:45

The 40% discount is for Key workers, if you email them a photo of your ID and outline your job role they will reply. Also 10% off sale but you have to do two orders to use the two codes if you want to buy across sale and full price, which is what I have done this weekend. I didn't buy a hoodie/sweatshirt though as they didn't have the colour I wanted in longline.

FairNotFair · 21/02/2021 09:11

I have the Marte in the white and the grey; I'm 5ft 3. Lovely and soft, and a great shape - very flattering.

Juliancoped · 21/02/2021 09:14

I have the Marte in khaki but got in the sale.

Well I'm not sure (yet) if they are worth it as I only just got my first items. But if they are cut well, from a good fabric that won't stretch/pill/go all curly at the hem and wash well and retain colours then I'm totally happy paying £80 for one rather than getting 3 from h&m for the same price.

I also want to try from brands which pay workers decently. If a hoodie costs £14.99 then a person at the end of that production line will be paid almost nothing.

shinynewapple21 · 21/02/2021 10:24

Their hoodies seem to be made from organic cotton which is better for the environment, and, I would imagine for the cotton production workers too.

I've been looking to buy some better quality basics and looked at Baukjen yesterday, I haven't ordered anything yet, trying to lose some weight first . I agree though, £80 is a LOT of money compared to the ones I normally buy.

TroyTown · 21/02/2021 10:59

Totally agree with pigtailsandall.

There’s a reason why cheap clothes are cheap. Paying workers very little means producers can keep the costs down.

They are using sustainable fabrics, paying decent wages, not using slave labour, making clothes that will last and aren't high fashion so you will wear and wear. The hoodie is soft and absolutely a joy to wear. If you go to the website you will find lots of information about the company and the way they work and produce clothing. I would rather pay £80 for a hoodie from them than £20 for one from primark for example ( I am sure there are better examples of fast fashion but honestly I don't know many fast fashion shops). Obviously it's down to you and budget will always play a part for most people but I am happy to pay more from Baukjen. I've only returned a couple of things ever, a dress that was too long and a blouse that was thicker fabric than I had realised for the summer
Juliancoped · 21/02/2021 11:35

They usually have codes for first orders and their sales are ok. But their items are lovely and last years
