Hats and comfort itchiness

friendlyflicka · 16/02/2021 21:16

I always want to wear hats - especially in freezing weather - but I find them so itchy on my forehead that I have to tear them off. I am also like that about bra straps on my back.

I ride and am fine with a riding hat.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Yes. Wear a riding hat all the time. HTH Grin

Are you talking about woolly hats ?
I have a fleece ear warmer as I can’t wear hats either, they give me an itchy head.

friendlyflicka · 16/02/2021 22:50

PeterPandemic - definitely a practical one.

Yes, woolly hats are the worst but even fleece ones. I realise it is not a life or death problem. Just wondered how people managed to tolerate them..

Dd has this problem. So she asked for a cashmere beret for Christmas. Unfortunately, I think she still finds it a bit itchy 😏

QueenPaw · 16/02/2021 23:53

You can get satin lined ones, that might work

friendlyflicka · 17/02/2021 09:30

Satin sounds perfect. I will search. @queenpaw

Get a felt hat - fedora or similar?

MrsPernicious · 17/02/2021 09:34

I have this problem, I crocheted myself a silk hat. It is so soft and warm I forget I am wearing it.

Is there anybody you could persuade or pay to make you one?

@Palavah

Get a felt hat - fedora or similar?
But obviously not a Gucci one...even if you save for it.....it is a waste of money and may get stolen off your head....🤣

I have woolly hats from a brand called Barts, they have a strip of something velvety inside, really warm and comfortable.

PainterInPeril · 17/02/2021 10:40

What about a cotton knit hat? Beanie style.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 17/02/2021 10:41

I have a cashmere hat from woolovers.. it’s the only hat I’ve been able to wear that isn’t itchy.

friendlyflicka · 17/02/2021 11:16

thanks. The curly website is perfect for me. I am very curly haired and avoiding frizz would be a great by products. Great help, thanks.

I have the same problem. It isn't the hat, it's the hair that is being pushed on to my head that makes it itch.
Haven't cracked it yet.
(No help at all!!)

friendlyflicka · 18/02/2021 19:50

@Feedingthebirds1

I have bought the satin lined hat linked above. Will let you know if that is bearable.

Don't think I would have bothered to ask if it hadn't been so cold. My head was hurting with the cold but I couldn't keep a hat on!
