Converse and tights

I’m 30, I went to school when ‘emo’ was a thing. I’ve always been a fan of trainers with dresses and skirts- I live in London where this is a normal look and I think looks fine with tights. Converse I normally wear in the summer with dresses and skirts.
However, today I wore converse (black with the white front and laces) with 200 denier tights and I felt a bit.. off. Is it just me or is a bit ‘emo’? Or perfectly fine and I just have PMS negative self talk?

If you like it then it’s perfectly fine Smile

Yeah I'm in my 30s and I wear them together

I don’t have Converse, but in normal times wear Adidas Stan Smiths, Continental 80s, and Vejas, all in black, with opaque tights and dresses/skirts. Currently wearing jeans and Ugg boots for WFH, and missing the rest of my wardrobe!

I'm 30 too and have just bought Vans Sk8-His to wear with dresses and black opaques like this. It's not on trend or whatever and gen Z are probably cringing but I like the look.

Of course it's fine. I'm in my 50s and wore my Snag sweetheart tights with white Converse on V-day.

Gen Z here lol

Vans & converse are incredibly popular and that mainstream to extent that no one would really associate them with “emo” culture at this point. I remember vans being “it” shoes back in 2016, and converse had their moment last year. They look normal with tights and dresses. In my opinion you’d have to try very hard to look emo, your hair/makeup/general aesthetic would have to match, this outfit alone wouldn’t make the cut!

As a londoner you have definitely walked past someone wearing tights & converse. You just can’t remember because their outfit was unremarkable and they just blended in
