Salicylic Acid Recommendation?

Hey, I’m starting to suffer with a lot of acne that just won’t budge! I’ve been reading Caroline Hirons Skin Care book who mentions that salicylic acid is a holy grail for acne. But I wondered if anyone had tried any specific products and would recommend them? Thanks!

I use Paula's Choice BHA toner, in the dark grey bottle, and her Azelaic Acid booster cream and I think they're both excellent. My skin has calmed down enormously and I've got through two full menstrual cycles without any serious breakouts now. The BHA toner is salicylic acid.

Nip and fab wash in a pink bottle is good. I also have neat acid from eBay for new spots but it's super strong so I only leave on for 10 seconds then wash off

Cerave do a nice SA cleanser and I also really rate Garnier thyme SA toner - v cheap and v effective!

Stridex cleansing pads. Use daily until clear and then a couple of times a week. And use water based moisturiser not oil based with it, so you don't undo the good it's doing.

Paulas choice. They do a lotion or a gel version which can be easier for applying to specific areas

Garden of Wisdom 2%

Alumier acne cleanser with 2% salicylic acid changed my skin.

100% Paula’s Choice. They do a few different formulas so have a read up on the website as to what would suit you best. I find her site very clear and informative. You can also buy trial size bottles for about £11ish each so it’s not such a big outlay if you don’t get along with it.

If you’re at all sensitive I’d caution against using too many forms of salicylic acid at once. Pick a toner or a wash and introduce slowly without many other active products. Acids can be great for your skin but if you overdo them you’ll damage your skin barrier and cause more harm than good.
