Nigella's makeup and look?

HandbagRummage · 15/02/2021 09:23

I am officially a stalker. I am obsessed. I want to look natural and glamorous like Nigella Lawson.

How does she (or her stylist/ makeup artist) achieve this flawless, no makeup, makeup look?

Any comments on her:

Skincare
Makeup
Clothes style

I am interested as I have long dark hair, pale skin like hers so the tones would probably be OK on me.

Well, she’s 60. So you do the maths... Wink

I’m obsessed with her makeup too! I think it comes down to:
Thick but well matched foundation. Nigella doesn’t have a ‘bare skin’ look, it’s heavy, creamy foundation.
Lots of eyeliner and false lashes!
For hair it’s definitely rollers and lots of shine spray.

Any better recommendations are welcome!

Yes, I was about to say, this isn't a makeup / no make up look at all imo. Her makeup is flawless but very heavy. It isn't a look I would go for day to day. She wears glamorous false eyelashes and winged eyeliner. It is far from barely there! I do think she looks incredible though. I know she's had a lot of botox or she looks as if she has, but she still looks lovely if a bit frozen.

Her clothes are nice. She looks as if there is some serious corsetting under her tops in some of her tv shows.

She is a total glamour puss! She looks fab, but she is not au natural and that's fine.

Her skin tone is that perfect hybrid of pale but warm not wan.

But she is caked in make up - what works for an editorial shoot won't translate well to a cold winter day outdoors with harsh unforgiving sunlight. It would be way too thick and accentuate every pore, line, crevice, hair.

The best combination for her kind of base I can think of would be MILK hydrogrip primer (very ‘tacky’ so makeup grips) with Estée Lauder double wear over it for a thick Matte look and finished wkth Mac mineralise powder. Some powder blue very lightly Applied.

Blush not blue!

JMAngel1 · 15/02/2021 10:30

All I wear us a light dust of MAC mineralise powder - I'm 48 and could no way pull off DW with powder anymore.

Don't know how she's doing it at 60 - think more than BOTOX afoot here - I would say a face lift, BOTOX and fillers and she sleeps under a laser machine every night Grin

JMAngel1 · 15/02/2021 10:31

Not sure why the capitals in there - I'm not shouting.

She is a gorgeous woman but that photo you have posted is heavily filtered.

Have a look at Lisa Elderidge on YouTube, I always think she is the beauty equivalent of NL, but without the innuendos!

Her face has changed quite dramatically over the years. I recall she naturally has lots of freckles and has at times had that air spray foundation thing done. Teeth alternations have made a difference.

Personally I think the presentation is a mix of a shit tonne of surgical interventions and the magic of photoshop.

Skincare- see above.
Make-up- access to the best make-up artistry. If you want to achieve the vibe- lots of contour, nude lipstick, eyeliner and false eyelashes.
Clothes -cashmere, lots of black and lately platform trainers with wide leg trousers.

Try Fenty primer, double wear foundation and powder plus benefit play sticks
