Cobalt blue?

What do S&B experts think of cobalt blue? I think I like it but not sure I can carry it off, I feel more comfortable in muted colours usually.

Do yo wear CB? Or is it a bit much? Does it work if combined with grey or black?

I love it. I'm just making a top with some CB jersey. Great winter colour too. Yes it can be worn with black. I would see what it looks like with navy. Ot also works well with white.

It's one of the colours I suit and I really love it - goes with light of dark grey, black and lots of colours - my favourite colour combo being very light whispery baby pink. But also goes with some stronger colours - red, bubblegum pink and orange for example. Buy it and see how it squares in your existing wardrobe?

Greenvalleysightseeker · 15/02/2021 09:25

I love it and always keep an eye out when I'm shopping but don't see it very often. I have a couple of t-shirts and knitted jumpers in cobalt and the colour really suits me. I am fair with blonde hair and blue eyes, it seems to really bring out the colour of my eyes.

I tend to dress it down with jeans, either a shade lighter or a shade darker.

I love it and wear it often. I have a pair of CB trousers, wear with black silk shirt and black shoes, or white blouse and black jacket. Also have 2 CB dresses, I wear them with black tailored jacket in winter and nothing in summer. Black or grey shoes.

I have a Proenza top in cobalt

And whilst I really like at as a blonde I don’t think it’s my best colour. It is striking though

Rivergreen · 15/02/2021 09:32

It's a great colour for being bold, but not too out there. You can wear it with black, but I think it looks a bit more modern with grey. If you aren't careful, with black it can look like a "pop" of colour a la Gok Wan era

I got a jumper in this colour recently. As a brunette I think it suits me. Will likely wear with navy trousers but I think grey would work too.

Sort of like this except I m fatter and middle aged Grin

I love cobalt blue, its one of my favourite colours & fortunately I'm a Winter so it suits me, I always get compliments whennj wear it. I have a few work & casual dresses which I wear with neutrals, black, tan & grey but I also wear it with silver or gold metallic accessories on a night out. It also looks amazing with hot pink.

Oly4 · 15/02/2021 21:51

I love it but rarely see it

limesoda · 15/02/2021 22:32

I love it. I have a cobalt blue satchel from when they were a massive trend around 10 years ago and it goes with absolutely everything.

Wiredforsound · 15/02/2021 23:23

It’s a definite yes from me, but then I really suit jewel colours - ruby reds, coral pinks, emerald greens, fire opals, and the like. I look like I’ve been ill when I wear beiges and greys.

LegendDairy · 15/02/2021 23:54

My favourite jumper was a soft merino colbolt blue with the perfect proportions. Devastated when I finally had to put it in the bin after many repairs.

grassisjeweled · 15/02/2021 23:58

Love it. Not sure about Kate's belt.

MoltonSilver · 16/02/2021 00:04

I love it. I'm on the lookout for it in the shops but I'm not seeing much around.

umpteennamechanges · 16/02/2021 00:23

I love it and it suits me.

I actually own the trench coat in the first picture (LK Bennett).

Redact · 16/02/2021 04:20

I love it and used to wear cb a lot but not so much in the last few years. I still have some tops and a couple of jumpers which I must look out again. I'm a winter, dark haired and it is one of my colours.

Applefairy · 16/02/2021 04:36

It’s stunning but looks best if it’s one of your colours (I imagine you would need to suit clear, bright jewel tones).

It’s not great on me so I’d never wear cobalt near my face me - but I have this beautiful bag which I wear with black /grey. The colour is very pretty and adds something to what would otherwise be a drab outfit on me.

near my face myself

Oldraver · 16/02/2021 08:29

Yes, I have a mac just like that probably slightly paler and I have had positive comments on it

LadyEloise · 16/02/2021 08:41

I love it as a colour but I can't wear it as it drains the colour out of me iykwim.

Boogiewoody · 16/02/2021 09:16

I love it and was actually wearing it yesterday. Jewel tones suit me so I always look out for it in shops.

PLAYJAJADINGDONG · 16/02/2021 11:16

I only own one item in this colour (see pic) but every single time I wear it I get compliments. Think it does good things for my colouring (pale, dark hair, blue eyes, suit jewel tones).

I do think it can veer a bit old-fashioned and queen mother-y though depending on the item, the coat in your first photo for eg. And I don't like Kate's outfit either.

I love cobalt! I have a winter coat, which really brightens me up, and I have a couple of tops. I wear them with black trousers and sometimes navy.

It's a bold colour but not at all garish. I reckon you should give it a go!

Griefmonster · 16/02/2021 13:58

I love this colour but don't like it with black. Someone up thread said baby pink which I totally agree with. Anything pinkish blushish looks lovely with cobalt blue. I find it too harsh with black, grey etc. Tips in to uniform territory.
