I think I want flared jeans...

... but it might just be lockdown madness slowly taking over?

I came across these www.fitjeans.com/collections/all/products/womens-regular-super-flared-mid-waisted-fitjeans-black and I'm trying to justify buying them because I really, really like flares.

I'll probably end up buying them anyway, because fuck it, life is too short, but... any thoughts? 😂

I am wondering about this too! I used to have a lovely pair of flared jeans years ago (I'm getting on a bit 😁) and they looked amazing worn long over sky-high wedge sandals. This time around I'm thinking comfy flats, so the leg would need to be shorter, but somehow the flares / flats combo bothers me a bit. I'm not sure why though.

I am over thinking this, aren't I ? 🙈

My 16 yr old DD2 wears Top Shop flares and looks great in them. She wears hers with Stan Smiths or Vans. Go for it, I say.

Although not as good as the model, I am actually rather proud of my rear end 😂. Heavy lifting does wonders to one's buttocks

It seems they are definitely making more of a comeback, although the younger generation aren't necessarily wearing flared jeans. They are either wearing a boyfriend/mom fit or if they are wearing flares, it's more a jersey/normal trouser material.

I REALLY want to get some too but I'm in my late thirties and I remember wearing hipster bootcut jeans and if I see anyone in bootcut or flares now (my age) they are usually really frumpy Confused

It’s the dragging the hems along the floor that bothers me. I’m so used to a cropped jean.

I think they need the right trainer. Vans may be a good call. I can’t picture them with a ballet punk right now! Sandals in summer would work though.

I wear mine with adidas superstar trainers or clogs. Clogs give them a more vintage vibe.

Oh my gosh. Im mid 30s and have been thinking of a flared Jean for a while now, but not brave enough to order.
I had a fantastic pair when I was about 19.
I might trawl ebay and just do it.
I'm imaging them with a Boho style top and sandles in the summer.

I love a flared jean and used to live in them when they were in fashion. Footwear is an issue though. You need a slightly shorter length or a heel otherwise the bottom hem gets trashed (and soaked in the rain).

I bought a pair of 7 for All Mankind flared jeans in a charity shop for less than a tenner last March. I was incredibly thin from stress at the time and they haven't fit since a couple of weeks after I got them. Size 24/UK 6. I don't envisage me becoming that slim again but they're so lovely.

I used buy oasis jeans around 2005/6 called scarlet, they were a bootcut style, they were my favourite fit , fitted at bum and hips like skinnies, and a small boot cut from below knee, I been trying to buy a new style as I only wear skinnies, all the wide leg jeans I tried just never fitted around the bum and hip, so I recently saw the scarlets style on ebay and ordered them, thinking if I don't like them I will resell, they fit so good, I brought another two pairs,I love them ,for me it gets me away from skinnies for a change.

I'm short and remember flares, exactly as you describe and they made me look much taller!

@Offthewallisaladder I can't link as they are secondhand, just look on ebay put in oasis scarlett jeans and see what comes up, I brought mine in January, there were other sellers selling the same style at that time.

just to add i did have too cut the hems as they come too long on my short legs, but I don't mind a frayed hem.

I love flares in all fabrics - just bought a fabulous new season Chloe pair which I will be wearing with platforms, flatforms and clogs.

Not sure I could pull them off and literally would not know what shoes to wear 😭
