Selfridges virtual shopping

Hello

Has anyone done this and if so can you tell me what to expect please? I booked it last night and the appointment is for tomorrow. It’s for one particular brand in the shop, I’m interested in their handbags. I’m a little concerned it may be a hard sell and less pleasant than browsing myself!

Following with interest.
Guess worse case you can cut the call off if it gets really uncomfortable.

Not Selfridges but comparable, I'd say it's more like personal shopping, as opposed to browsing with a sales assistant around so the expectation is there that you're coming to buy with something in mind. I didn't experience a hard sell though, I wanted something specific, they didn't have that, was shown alternatives that I didn't want and I didn't get the sense she wanted me to buy something but I did feel a little bad for taking up their time and said as much but she was really lovely about it. They later contacted me as they were able to source it elsewhere and get it shipped over from another country so it worked out in the end. I wouldn't have engaged the services if I didn't actually intend to buy, but I don't think that's an issue, I'm sure they get plenty of customers like that. I got the feeling they're just glad to have some interaction. Also, I'm sure the usual distance selling rules apply so you can always return anything if you change your mind.

Well, I can update with some insights! My appointment was scheduled for tomorrow but I had contact from someone today to get an idea of what I was looking for. I mentioned the styles and patterns of bag that I was interested in and he sent me pics of what they had available to order. He also sent me a video of one they had in store that I was quite interested in. It seemed though that there were a number of styles they could order but didn’t seem to have in stock, so I’m not sure what the point of a virtual appointment would be then- I could just look online, whereas I really wanted to see videos or lives of the bags being carried, over the shoulder etc.

Anyway, I was happy to purchase the bag they had in stock and would have gone ahead with that except for two reasons- as I had not purchased from them before they wanted a bank transfer rather than credit card payment and as I’m based in the Republic of Ireland this would take a number of days plus cost me more, and also as it’s now post-brexit I’d have to pay additional charges. So, I have cancelled the virtual apt for tomorrow. I hadn’t thought of the post-brexit charges prior to arranging the appointment, it’s just such a pain. I will have to try source the bag from within the EU instead.

Anyway, thought I’d update for anyone curious.
