Any ideas to which hair dye would give this colour?

My hair is its natural colour. Dark blonde/very light brown. I just love this colour, is it achievable with home dye?

Mine is not far off that altho naturally I'm darker. L'Oréal Dublin. It's perhaps a tiny bit redder.

Really like the look of that but its permanent and I'm just worried if I don't like it then its there to stay..

It's a risk! Although you could just cover it. If you're fairly blonde anyway, most red / orange tones are going to have a good amount of staying power anyway!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/02/2021 09:43

Honestly the semi permanent box dyes are a waste of time and money. If you don't like it you can always go over it with a brown, or get the colour stripped out at the hairdresser once lockdown is over.

I like the LIVE colour XL dyes, they work really well on my dark brown hair so should work well on a lighter colour.

L'Oréal Casting Creme Amber maybe?

Make sure you check the side of the box where it shows examples of different “starting” hair colours and the results they will get. Unless you are going to completely bleach your hair before putting the new colour on top, your own hair colour and undertones will influence the outcome at least a little bit.

Red tends to dull quickly so you’ll have to dye it more than you would if you were dying it brown, for instance. But that can also be a good thing because if you don’t like it, it wont stick around for too long!

Davines copper conditioner gives pretty much that colour on my dark blonde hair. Fades out through a few washes but keeps hair in lovely condition. Would highly recommend

BuffaloCauliflower · 12/02/2021 11:57

My hair is your natural colour and I’ve been lots of reds over the years. Be aware that red clings GI hair more than other colours, so will hang around, but also fades quicker, so it can be a lot of upkeep to keep it a good red. It is worth it though! I’ve used Garnier Nutrisse colours and had success but not sure if that one. Looks likely to get what you’re after though.

Ah! That sounds good to try it first. Thank you!

Maria Nila colour refresh in “bright copper” might be a good one for you to try.

Thanks everyone. I've ordered the Davines conditioner at the moment, it washes out but should hopefully give me a hint of what I'd look like with copper hair. I'm not sure if I have the right skin tone etc...X

It looks a lot like mine when I used Schwarzkopf Live Mango Twist, but my natural colour is just a lighter red, not brown.

Mellonsprite · 12/02/2021 18:24

Go for it!
I’m jealous I’d like mine to be this colour but mines too dark and I don’t any to bleach it.

Plonque · 12/02/2021 18:29

This is the best copper I've ever used. I've been dying my hair for 25 year Smile

Thank you!! This is my natural colour. I use to be blonde but its got a lot darker in recent years. Looking at the photo its actually darker than I thought. Maybe too dark to achieve the look I want?

Is that the Dublin?
OP posts:
Havisham · 13/02/2021 08:06

Yes, "Dublin mango copper" I think it's called, although they changed the name slightly a few years ago which always confuses me!

Havisham · 13/02/2021 08:08

I think you'd actually get quite close to the colour you want. Your hair is a similar colour to mine, although I've got build up of colour at the ends, so get a slightly brighter colour there.

I was going to say mango twist too. Works well on my hair which is a similar shade to yours OP.
