Congested nose skin

JanetandJohn500 · 08/02/2021 21:59

This is so bad, it could probably go in Sporner's Corner! I have real skin congestion on my nose and I need your help to buy some products (that aren't £££) to cure it.
The rest of my skin is quite greasy. I wash it everyday with Acnecide wash and I do have Nip&Fab exfoliator that I use regularly (but not daily)
I used to always clean my face with Witch Hazel but I definitely need more now!

Sunday Riley UFO serum

Thanks @PersonaNonGarter

Hopeful bump for more advice. I'm really a hopeless case and I'm currently an advertisers dream because I'm desperate!

Paulas choice bha 2% .. 1-2 nights a week
or a retinol on the nights not using it .. start off with a very low % so your skin gets used to it then work your way up ..

Please do your research both and what they do to see if they will benefit you

I've just incorporated them into my skincare (same issues congested skin) my nose looked not as dark and congested after my first use of paulas choice

Might be a silly question but do you moisturise aswell .. what's your current regime

Jocasta2018 · 09/02/2021 11:12

If I have a cold, I get a crusty nose so always use Kleenex Balsam tissues which are a godsend!
If I don't use the tissues, my noise looks gross...

JaneJeffer · 09/02/2021 12:07

Inkey List salicylic acid cleanser.

I wash my face with Acnecide and then if it's too dry, I use Simple moisturiser. Once or twice a week I use Nip&Fab glycolic stuff on it. I've never really had a 'regime' before but very keen to get it right now to get rid of my red nose and over-active blackheads!!!

I use the Garnier thyme toner. It’s cleared my nose up a treat and it’s cheap

I wouldn't know op as I've only just used the bha and I would hate it if you bought it because of me at that price and it doesn't help at all. (I'm not familiar with the other products have a good read about them first and search the forums on here for paulas choice .. that helped also before I bought it)

My skin was kind of the same very oily but I had random dry spots . I never ever used to moisturise as I didn't want to add anymore grease to my face but I think that was one of my biggest problem as I was using drying products and leaving it so my skin over produced sebum to make up for it which made my skin worse and more congested with blackheads..

Some of the products you use are very drying, try and get into the routine of moisturising

JanetandJohn500 · 09/02/2021 18:26

@hedgehoghutch thanks. I will do more research and reconsider my routine. I completely see what you're saying about my skin being so dry that it over produces oil. It just seems counter-intuitive!

https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/3634230-Has-anyone-used-Paulas-Choice-BHA-liquid. Hope this link works it's one of many on them

There is a load of threads on it , I search it through browser as it's more defined then on the app.. I use la rochey cicaplast buame b5 repairing balm as the last step at night it's greasy but when I wake up my skin feels baby smooth and very moisturised.

Good luck Smile

The only thing you need here is salicylic acid as a first approach .

I recommend Paulas choice one mentioned above .

Nothing over the cost of £20 is needed 😂

Maremaremare · 09/02/2021 23:12

I came on to say you need something with a high % of salicylic acid. I use Epionce Lytic Tx, but it is a bit pricey. I put it on after I wash my face at night.

Fozzleyplum · 09/02/2021 23:21

A very cheap way of seeing if salicylic acid works is the aspirin mask. I can't vouch for it personally, but a friend swears by it for the problem you've described.

stevalnamechanger · 10/02/2021 15:49

That is a terrible idea, messing around with asprin you'd have no idea of the PH etc. Avoid.

Buy the Paulas choice in the sample size.

JanetandJohn500 · 10/02/2021 18:20

Bought a sample set from Paula's Choice so I'll let you all know how it goes
