Vitamin C

Can anyone recommend a vitamin C serum please?
I've just finished a bottle of Sunday Riley CEO Glow but it was expensive and I haven't seen any difference in my skin. I've also used the LRP one, but I didn't love that either. What's your holy grail vit C?

I've tried a few and my favourites by far are the Superdrug own brand serum and the Medik8 serum.

schmalex · 08/02/2021 17:30

Is that the Tetra C, @milkshakeandfries?

I use The Ordinary - the powder at night in moisturiser and their 23% cream in the day. Not serums though.

MilkshakeandFries · 08/02/2021 17:34

Yep! This one:

I use eclat vit c serum, that I bought on Amazon on a whim about 12 months ago, and I'm now on my 4th bottle. It costs about £7 a bottle. I think it makes my skin look better, although that may also be because I started focussing on a proper skin care regime so anything would have made it better.

I have tried revoloution vit c serum as I use their niacinamide and zinc serum, but I didn't like the vit c one.

The best I've ever tried is skinceuticals vit c serum but it is way to expensive for my budget. Best dupe ever is Garden of Wisdom's serum. I've been using this very very happily for the last couple of years and really do notice a freshness to my complexion and a more youthful feel to my skin.

Medik8 or Oskia for me

Flambola · 08/02/2021 17:59

Skinceuticals Vit C & ferulic acid ... but that might be even more expensive than Sunday Riley.

It’s the one product I will splurge on, I think it’s worth the money.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 08/02/2021 17:59

The Ordinary 20% works but is a bitch to use - stingy, oily and gritty. However I will repurchase because it really does give a glow.

feesh · 08/02/2021 18:00

The Boots one is really good. You have to mix it yourself and use it up within 8 weeks, so it’s definitely fresh vitamin C.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 08/02/2021 18:01

And costs about £5 Grin

VelveteenChair · 08/02/2021 18:05

Kiehls! It’s the Powerful Strength Line Reducing concentrate. Love it.

I am using the Sunday Riley vitamin C serum and I thought it was just me and my current lockdown bad diet. My skin isn’t that great ATM. Must go back to Kiehls when the tube is finished Grin

What I will recommend is the Rodial vitamin C spf 30 day cream. Only use in the summer as it is gloopy and you don’t need any other serums to go with it.

I'm really enjoying alpha H vitamin C, makes me very glowy! I love most of their products.

Couldn't get on with ordinary vit c. I've stopped using all of their products now to be fair, generally a mix of Alpha H and Paula's Choice. I have quite fussy skin though

schmalex · 08/02/2021 18:29

I don't mind splurging if it's worth it!

My holy grail Vit C is Vichy LiftActiv.
Tiny 10ml bottle, worth every single penny.
I've tried others, from the oily sandpaper Ordinary one to more expensive ones (and with a higher % of vit C) but always go back to the Vichy.

hollieberrie · 08/02/2021 18:39

I have the Timeless one. I love it. I read about it on a previous MN vitamin c thread. It took a while to get here from the States though so I might try the Garden of Wisdom one next time as heard good things.

SunnyNights · 08/02/2021 18:46

I second the Medik8 one. The Roche Posay one is also good.

SunnyNights · 08/02/2021 18:47

Sali Hughes had a column on vit C in the guardian on Saturday, worth a read but most recommended were quite pricey!

JofraArchersFastestBall · 08/02/2021 18:48

I've recently started using the garden of wisdom one and I love it. It goes on nicely, sits well under anything else you might want to put on and I do think it's making a difference (which is rare in my experience!)

schmalex · 08/02/2021 18:53

I've ordered the Garden of Wisdom one and will give that a whirl!

Mrstwiddle · 08/02/2021 18:58

I bought the GOW one, maybe I had a dysfunctional bottle, but the lid broke after a few weeks and it became v difficult to dispense. Wasn’t convinced the product made any difference either.

StepOutOfLine · 08/02/2021 19:59

I didn't like the GOW one either. I bought it because it was cheaper than the Vichy, had 23% vit C instead of the 15% that the Vichy had etc. I finished the bottle but it oxidised very quickly and I didn't care for the oily texture and like @Mrstwiddle didn't notice much difference.

Girlintheframe · 08/02/2021 22:05

I loved the medik8 one, my skin really glowed but after months of using it had an awful skin reaction. Didn't realise it had essential oils/fragrance in it. Am sad to see this one go as it made a massive difference

The ordinary 23% really made my skin glow too but I wasn't keen on the texture.

Tried Timeless but it didn't do anything for me unfortunately.

Have just ordered PC15% to try 🤞
