Talk to me about Tinted moisturiser/BB/CC creams

With lockdown and WFH, I can't be arsed putting on a full face of makeup. Problem is I look awful without it on. And feel miserable about it. So I want something that takes minimum effort in the morning but makes me look human. I'm thinking a bit of tinted moisturiser, some mascara and drawing my eyebrows on will work.

But I want a decent tinted moisturiser. I'm 40. Have a very oily T zone and still prone to spots around TOTM. I'm not too worried about wrinkles right now, but I do have very dark under eye circles. I'm also very pale, so don't want anything too dark or orange.
I currently use L'Oréal Revitalift day and eye cream which does help 'lift' around my eyes.

So, please recommend me a good, not too greasy or heavy tinted moisturiser that is going to actually help my skin instead of just covering everything up. Preferably for under £30. Grin

Sorry to jump on but the seamagik BB - what sort of shade is it? I'm a not to pale but not tan and hovering over the buy button!

I’m quite pale with freckles, you know that type of colouring , it suits me perfectly .

I think there are some sample sizes on eBay from the H & B calendar (?) a bit less outlay maybe.

Nars Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturiser is the best. Never bought anything else since first started using it about ten years ago (I was using Laura Mercier before but think Nars is much better - much less gloopy). It comes in a lot of shades - thought might be a bit tricky to colour match at moment. It’s on offer at Boots I’ve just noticed (about to buy new one myself). It also has SPF30 which is a bonus.

Bluesheep8 · 10/02/2021 10:32

The seamagik one is called natural. It's one shade suits all as it adjusts to your skintone

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/02/2021 16:04

@Betsy88 I think I'll join you as I need a new tube. I do find it a bit thick though.

I'm considering Missha no. 13.

AmberItsACertainty · 10/02/2021 16:51

I have no advice sorry. Going to look at these recommendations. All the BB or CC creams I've seen in shops have been way too dark even if they say for fair skin or described themselves as light.

Ginfordinner · 10/02/2021 17:54

I find that far too many tinted moisturisers/BB cream make me look orange. Which is the best one that doesn't do this? I have pale skin.

SarBear1980 · 10/02/2021 18:34

Another vote for the Sea Magik one- it is amazing - another one who found it in the advent calendar and as a pale, freckle faced red head it is amazing - just gives enough coverage to look natural, even on Zoom!!

Coffeepot72 · 10/02/2021 20:56

I have slightly oily skin and use NARS tinted moisturiser (it’s subtle but I look loads better when I use this). I also have pretty bad dark circles, and after spending years trying/failing to cover them up, I recently discovered pale pink colour corrector, this lightens the darkness to the point that I don’t actually need concealer - game changer!

Betsy88 · 11/02/2021 12:12

@Coffeepot72 do you mind me asking which colour corrector you use? I’ve heard the Becca one is good but never tried it.

purplebagladylovesgin · 11/02/2021 12:15

I have always used Boots No7 tinted moisturiser, I think they have changed style recently but it's very similar. I buy both colours and mix according to my skin tone as I get darker in the summer.

It goes on easily, protects and it's an effortless base. I've been using this since the 1980's....

Ginfordinner · 11/02/2021 12:16

I tried the Boots no 7 and found it more like foundation than tinted moisturiser. I don't really need that kind of coverage.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 11/02/2021 12:24

Nivea tinted moisturiser for fair skin is perfect for what you need. It's very reasonable and feels great on

im5050 · 12/02/2021 07:14

I’m mixed race
I love Bobbi Brown BB cream
A tiny bottle last me around 6 months

Coffeepot72 · 12/02/2021 07:53

@Betsy88 Boots Sleek Corrector in pale pink is very good and it’s only £6.99, but the best I’ve tried so far is Chanel Correcteur in Rose (this has more staying power). I’ve also had another go with YSL Touché Eclat, using it to brighten the whole under eye area, and that’s quite good too.

Once you brighten your entire under eye area, your whole face looks better, I wish I’d realised this before!

emma6776 · 12/02/2021 08:06

I love Estée Lauder cc cream. It comes out the tube white, but somehow magically adjusts to my skin tone. Not a lot of coverage but I use concealer under my eyes anyway.

Very pale people be aware I found this is too dark.
Ginfordinner · 12/02/2021 08:57

I'm glad you updated Amber. I find most tinted moisturisers too dark/orangey on me, even the white ones that supposedly adjust to your skin tone.

AmberItsACertainty · 12/02/2021 09:09

Ginfordinner this is exactly my problem too. My foundation in winter is shade "ivory". Anything says "for fair skin" is way too dark and orangy based.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/02/2021 09:47

I love a BB cream, the Missha one is lovely, but I also have an oily T zone so need to powder over that area with translucent powder, or it feels like its sliding off. The Garnier BB cream is quite thick and I could get away with it only, no powder, but its not as good a colour match for me personally.

Solderingon · 12/02/2021 09:50

Another vote for the Eborian cc cream. It's light shade is actually pale and not orange at all. It's white in the tube and adjusts. It suits me in the winter and summer, it smells great and it's got just enough coverage to make me look better. It's not oily or rich either.
It isn't cheap though!

Gonegrey31 · 12/02/2021 09:55

I also really rate the Iberian CC cream, I'm very pale and shade Clair works for me. The first CC product that i have found that is a perfect shade. Love the finish it gives. Worth the investment.

user1471523870 · 12/02/2021 10:17

Chanel CC cream is so good. No shiny areas and no faff about applying several different products (moisturizer, SPF and anything giving coverage/colour). I love it.

Gonegrey31 · 12/02/2021 10:23

Erborian CC cream ! Autocorrect strikes again....

Pigtailsandall · 12/02/2021 12:12

@Ginfordinner I'm very pale too and use the NARS tinted moisturiser in the lightest shade. No orange tint! It's got maybe a bit more coverage than an average tinted moisturiser but it makes me look good on Teams calls
