Cloud Nine straighteners?

dontputitinyourmouth · 07/02/2021 17:29

I need new straighteners as my nearly 18 year old GHDS are on their way out, the wiring is is dodgy and you have to have them in exactly the right spot otherwise they cut out, plus my Parlux drier started to smell like it was burning last nightSad

Anyway the cloud nine site has an offer on for a drier and the wide straighteners plus a spray thing and comb for £218, so has anybody got them and could tell me if it’s worth it before I take the plunge? Everything I’ve read says that the cloud nines are better than the modern GHDS but I could do with some real life recommendations!

My hair is fine but loads of it and prone to frizziness.

Cloud 9 are supposed to be better than ghds now. I bought some babyliss ones that were half price in sale and had rave reviews and they’re brilliant - leave my hair sleek and bouncy

They're fantastic... my thick, wavy, frizzy hair doesn't need touching for 2/3 days after I've used them. I had GHDs for about 15 years before this and cant believe I ever thought they were good enough!

dontputitinyourmouth · 07/02/2021 17:36

Which Babyliss were they @HermioneWeasley?

I’m open to suggestions but the offer seemed quite good for the drier and straighteners as I need both now

I have the touch cloud 9s I like them, very soft on my hair. No static.
I bought them direct from their website on sale with free delivery.

I've got Cloud 9's they are so much better than my ghd's
That's a good price
My parlux is also starting to smell like it's burning.

I would definitely get the Cloud 9’s. I also have some special edition GHD’s that an ex bought me and they don’t even compare. Like a PP, I could straighten my hair with Cloud 9’s and it would stay much sleeker and smoother than with the GHD’s for much longer. Unfortunately I have to wash my hair every day due to my work so I don’t get the opportunity to try leaving it for days, but I’m confident my hair would stay nice if I did. My hair is down to my middle back, very thick and frizzy.

I got cloud nines as a present at Xmas and are brilliant compared to my ghds. Especially for giving a nice wave!

DeadCertain · 07/02/2021 19:19

I also have Cloud 9s, they are fantastic.

Beachlovingirl · 07/02/2021 19:51

I am very happy with my cloud 9’s and feel the recent ghds are just cheap, they feel light and they make my hair static.

My first pair were the black ghds with the gold coloured plates and I loved these. When they broke the ghd design had already moved onto to something shinier and it seemed cloud 9s had taken their place.

Thanks everyone! I think I’ll go for it, I just wanted some reassurance before spending much!

I got my beloved GHDS with my student loan first instalment when I was 18😱, they were the most expensive purchase I’d ever made and I couldn’t believe I’d spent so much but they’ve lasted so well.

@dontputitinyourmouth did you buy them in the end? I'm just about to replace my current straighteners, can't decide between ghds and cloud9?

Ulysses · 09/03/2021 22:29

I bought DD Cloud Nines and the thermal fuse needed replacing within a year.
They are much slicker to use in comparison to my GHDs which are about 15 yo now and they glide through my hair better They have a heat control but I find I need to turn it up to full to get it hot enough. I’d buy them again but just saying they aren’t perfect either.

Bellabelloo · 09/03/2021 22:31

Another big cloud 9 fan. Better than Dyson too.

bridgertonian · 09/03/2021 22:33

Cloud 9’s all the way....my original ghds were great, but newer models are useless and don’t last.

ViciousJackdaw · 09/03/2021 23:11

Don't bin the knackered ones - they sell well on ebay. People buy them for spares/repair.
