Thinning hair - styling hint

Sorry if people know this.

Unfortunately my hair is thinning at the temples and even seems to be receding. Of course I am gutted about this and am necking Biotin and using thickening shampoos. I also bought one of those hair powders with a brush and sort of filled it in, used slightly darker than my colour. Putting it on the thinning bits has really helped add volume and fill in the gaps. I am pleased with my little hair hack so thought I’d share.

I know it’s only a temporary fix but since I can’t afford a transplant I have had to improvise!

Thanks for this
Would you be kind enough to share the name of the hair powder?

Thanks for the suggestion! I have the same issue with hair loss at temples / receding hairline.

I also remember reading online someone had good results from PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatment, which is a bit more affordable than a transplant. I haven’t tried it yet though, hoping to after lockdown

Have you tried minoxidil? That has a lot of scientific research to back up its effectiveness

Do you have any gut issues OP? I had a lot of bloating and hair loss. Drs couldn’t work out what was causing either problem. Recently I started taking good bacteria in capsule form. My hair has stopped falling out. Waiting to see if the lost hair comes back. (Bloating has cleared up too)

The thing I used was Instant Root Concealer powder by Charles Worthington. It’s a big brush thing. I saw a tutorial on YouTube about this and will try and find it again,

I’m looking into other treatments but Regaine had very mixed reviews. There is a hair treatment place near me I will investigate once lockdown over.

I do have gut issues @Winterwarrior but think my hair loss in menopause related.what capsules do you take?

Lots of YouTube vids on this. Just checked. Using make up for receding hairlines etc. Some good tips.

I use the L'oreal Root Touchup which works really well on my thin patches.

It’s a brand call Pro-Ven probiotics. I tried lots of the hair treatments over the years and non of them worked. This was the only thing that helped me.

When/if you can get your bloods done. My hair thinned dramatically, to the point where I was looking at wigs, I had a raised inflammatory marker, turns out I have IBD. Now that is being treated and I can access nutrients from my food properly, my hair is back to normal.
