Talking of engagement rings...

Just reading the thread about engagement rings & thought I'd ask a similar but slightly different question.

We got engaged abroad & I bundled him into a jewellers & ordered a ring. When it turned up, I didn't like it & have never worn it.

I don't actually tolerate rings at all it turns out, so would like to turn it into a necklace.

It's platinum, which I understand is hard to rework & 4 diamonds.

Anyone know someone who can help?

Tim French in Ascot is brilliant if you're anywhere nearby

I had a 4 diamond engagement ring that I had made into a pendant. I went to a local jeweller with a workshop, discussed what I wanted and he made it within a week. He used the band for the pendant clip etc so I got some gold back. If the 4 diamonds are set in a square then there is some risk they may fall out as they are held in purely with tension apparently, if that happens then you’ll need to refusing with 4 lose diamonds m. But all fine for me. I have a lovely pendant now and it only cost me labour - it was less than £50.

Sadly not near Ascot but will have a look.

It's the platinum that's an issue, due to high melting point.

It's a big birthday this year, so I thought it would be nice to have it in a more usable form. 😊

If in Manchester or Cheshire area, recommend Christopher Evans. He’s made some lovely bespoke stuff for my mum, including reworking some old earrings into something new. Lovely man and great customer service.

If in London, Abrahams in Hatton Garden specialise (or specialised, 6 or 7 years ago) in platinum with diamonds.

Sorry: Christopher Evans in Poynton. Key info of where he is missing from my above post!

Yep, Cheshire is nearer. Will go look.

Beautiful work on Anna's website.

Take a look at www.oaklandjewellery.com, my friend is the jeweller and I'm sure she'd be able to help
