Can colouring ever be good for your hair?

Just wondered as keep seeing advers for garnier olia and the new Schwartzkopff olee (?) hair dyes and they look really good! I have damasked dry hair that had a level 7 put on last august. Obviously have a huge chunk of roots now and would really like to put another colour on but it’s so dry and has a lot of breakage. Would lightening it with one of the above dyes damage it even further?

I think undyed hair is always going to be healthier hair but new products such as Olaplex mean that dyed hair can also be silky and swishy and in great condition. I suspect in your case though, adding a box dye on top of things won't help the issues you're currently having with your hair.

Thank you @WagnerTheWehrWolf

I think I’ll just embrace the natural look and grow it out to my natural colour. I did have an appointment at a hairdressers back in dec that got cancelled due to lockdown and that was to have a balayage done but she did say she wouldn’t be lightening it any further as my ends are already very light. So if a hairdressers wasn’t planning on lightening I probably shouldn’t at home. I’m just a bit bored of it being so dull! Thank you but
