Question about Sezane knitwear

Zengarden001 · 03/02/2021 17:57

Hi there, I wondered what experiences people have had with Sezane knitwear? I very much like their style and they seem to be mostly a mix of mohair, wool and poly. Do they bobble? I don't mind hand washing but I've had a couple of expensive (non Sezane) jumpers that bobble terribly after a couple of wears, and I find it very annoying!

I would love to know this too. Plus, if I may add, has anyone ordered since Brexit and have they had any problems with shipping from France.

Such lovely clothes, especially the knitwear, but am hesitant to order.

Kitlet · 03/02/2021 18:03

I've got a Gaspard jumper that I wear loads. It's a tiny bit bobbly but no more than any other jumper I've worn a lot over about 2 years.

I ordered from them last month and it was faster than usual! I think they might have switched to deliver via their London shop somehow, my payment was to there where it hasn't been in the past.

Zengarden001 · 03/02/2021 18:11

Yes I've ordered post Brexit and other you have to pay a 5 euro fee now for orders to the UK, it's fast and I've not had a problem with returns.

@Kitlet love the Gaspard! Thanks for your reply.

I'm currently eyeing up the Leon jumper hence my question.

Hopefully bump!

I've not experienced any bobbling with their. I wash on a wool cycle with wool detergent and dry flat and all seems ok so far.

There was an issue with P&P and customs due to Brexit but that seems to be sorted. They were adding on £5 to cover extra import charges but have removed that and upped some of the prices instead!

Zengarden001 · 04/02/2021 11:32

@SorrelForbes that sounds good, thanks for your reply.

Yes - quite pricy (now and before) but I don't mind paying a bit more for things that are nice and last.

I’ve got too many Sézane jumpers and cardigans.... a couple have bobbled a little bit but no more than you’d expect and nothing that can’t be fixed with a quick run over with a debobbler. Its just something that happens with knitwear really.

I’ve got the Leon in blue btw @Zengarden001 and that hasn’t bobbled at all - had it a couple of months.

Zengarden001 · 04/02/2021 15:37

@PBJelly the blue colour is the one I love! Yes I think that a little is fine and perfectly normal it's just really annoying when knitwear bobbles and looks so old after just a few wears. Glad to hear that you've not had this problem with Sezane.

I’ve noticed a fair bit of bobbling on my mohair mix sezane knitwear, even after a couple of months of light wear. The gaspard is the worst for that (and very shapeless, I found - I bought it because of all the hype but don’t wear it much as it’s just a bit... meh) I went through a big Sezane phase a couple of years ago but I think they’re a bit emperor’s-new-clothes... overpriced and way too much synthetic fabric

Zengarden001 · 04/02/2021 16:20

@Seventytwo interesting. In general I've found their clothes to be a mixed bag. I like quite a lot of the styles but I've been disappointed by some of the quality, so returned a lot. Some gems though, like a black silk dress which is beautifully cut, lined and really flattering. I've not bought any knitwear from them yet.

PBJelly · 04/02/2021 18:31

@Zengarden001 the blue is a gorgeous colour. I wear it a lot at home/lounging around as it’s lovely and cosy.

I agree with @Seventytwo that a good few styles are quite oversized. I think in general the sizing is generous especially in knitwear so you may want to go down a size. And also a lot of the styles are designed to be tucked in/partially tucked in. Eg if you look at the Gaspard, pretty much all the styling photos have it tucked in to jeans/trousers.... I have the Gaspard and wear it tucked in at the front, usually with the Clara trousers which are a slim cigarette style. IMO it looks better to have a looser fit if you’re wearing it like this as it gives you a bit more to play around with (tuck it in and then loosen it up a bit) and it’s a better contrast for me with slim trousers. So I guess keep in mind how they’re styling the knitwear/how it’s intended to be used. Hope that makes sense!

I don't buy any of their polyester but they do stock a lot of clothes that are silk, viscose, cashmere, merino etc. I've got a fair collection Grin

Pigtailsandall · 07/02/2021 15:46

Has anyone had a Sezane delivery recently? I'm worried about the customs fees...but eyeing up a scarf and a top.

Also I'm size 14/16 on the top (big boobs and wide shoulders but defined waist). I'm wondering what size to go for tops - usually I'd go for L but XL if I wanted a more relaxed look

Zengarden001 · 07/02/2021 16:37

Yes I've had a delivery recently, very quick. No problems with customs. I think initially there were some delays and extra fees but not anymore. I did one order around Christmas time which I was charged extra duties on but the company refunded me. I didn't get charged anything extra for my most recent delivery.

Zengarden001 · 07/02/2021 16:40

I found their sizing to be very variable. Their knitwear comes up big but I'd say their tops are true to size. I'm a 12/14 on top and have bought a size 14 shirt but I buy a 8 (S) in knitwear.

Pigtailsandall · 07/02/2021 19:23

@Zengarden001 thank you! The knitwear looks luscious but I feel like I might need to wait till ne fall for them... seems silly to buy them towards end of the season.

At the moment I'm thinking of getting a t-shirt to see size/quality but I'm also lusting after some of the jackets. So much nice stuff. Too much.

Pigtailsandall · 07/02/2021 19:24

Next fall, that was meant to say. Maybe even go to Paris to buy them!

I had one on Friday, no issues at all with customs. They re covering it their end thankfully.
Pigtailsandall · 08/02/2021 11:19

Ugh, I've tried to place an order twice today - one t-shirt, £40. One bag, £175. Should come to £215 right, without shipping costs. The total keeps coming up to £415 with no apparent reason. There's definitely only two items in my bag.

Not off to a good start with a new retailer...

ShangPie · 08/02/2021 12:17

Ooh @Pigtailsandall... a bag? Is it the perfect bag of fabled search? Grin
Show and tell please

Pigtailsandall · 08/02/2021 12:21

Lol @ShangPie alas, no! It's a bag I wanted to get for mum for her 70th! T-shirt was for me though Grin

Dream bag nowhere to be found so far Hmm

Sooverthemill · 08/02/2021 14:30

I've had 2 post Brexit orders. The first was a right old palaver but sezane very quickly stepped in and advised me to pay fees and refunded instantly. The next was under £135 and no fees. Also the garment was the same price as pre Brexit. Not everything has been increased.

I have 2 x mohair mix cardigans and they haven't bobbled at all. I have 3 x cotton jumpers and they are fine too. I agree all are designed to be oversized. I like the things I have though get a bit bored by the hype and the appalling photos which don't show shape well

EllaPaella · 09/02/2021 21:59

I love Sezane - I find the knitwear quite generous in size.
I haven't ordered since Brexit as have been put off by hearing of others bad experiences. Shame because I've always had great service from them in the past.

Sooverthemill · 10/02/2021 09:32

@EllaPaella it's all sorted now, they had issues immediately post Brexit but stepped in fast to sort it out. DHL behaved badly though! My recent order went through no problems at all and I got it in about 3 days
