I have used & liked Ogx apple cider vinegar & Bounce Curl Enzyme Gentle Clarifying

Currently using Bumble & Bumble Sunday shampoo which is a chelating shampoo, meant for chlorine and hard water build up removal. It’s stronger than a clarifying shampoo.

I asked a hairdresser at Barbra Daley about this once and she said I may as well just use washing up liquid, its basically meant to strip your hair.

Coffee4Queen · 03/02/2021 15:53

@torquewench this is exactly why I use a chelating shampoo. I’m doing the curly girl method and use so much butters, oils, gels etc etc! I have to give my hair a good strip down every 3-4 weeks.

Coffee4Queen

I have not heard of a chelating shampoo, does it dry your hair out?

If it is stronger than clarifying but not damaging maybe I will have a go at that.

I use a good quality soap and it leaves my hair looking amazing.

Or you could add a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to your regular shampoo

My hairdresser said to use Head and Shoulders to get rid of product build up.

Coffee4Queen · 03/02/2021 22:14

@superstar63 I use it mostly on my scalp and just a little bit on my hair. It makes my scalp feel squeaky clean but I don’t find it drying. I only use it a couple times a month or when I feel my hair has too much product buildup.

Thanks, I have bought the OGX apple cider vinegar so will see how that looks.

Love Davines Solu so much I use it pretty regularly

ChequerBoard · 04/02/2021 19:33

Philip B Avocado and Peppermint shampoo, pricey but very good.

Mommyme74 · 04/02/2021 21:04

Oribe cleansing foam. It’s pennies but it works well and smells gorgeous. I have also at a push used fairy washing up liquid and it worked pretty well.

Betsy88 · 04/02/2021 21:49

Christophe Robin Sea Salt Scrub is amazing - leaves your hair feeling really clean. You can get small travel size ones I think (I got a travel size in a Space NK advent calendar over a year ago and it lasted ages).

That's packed full of silicone. Which is what you want to remove with a cleansing shampoo.

Colour wow shampoo is great for deep cleansing!

I use Tresemme.
