Just that really - so many advent calendars were discussed on here with so many products, but which ones are your HG?

Not an advent calendar, but the M&S summer one last year had a really nice everyday fragrance - Freesia & sea salt, I think. Would buy that again, it's lovely and really lasts (unlike Jo Malone).

H&B Weleda arnica bath milk, loved it and have already bought again. I also love the Dead Sea Spa Magik BB cream, and the coconut face bar (which I didn’t expect to like).

I also loved a lot of the Rituals stuff but have so many shower gels now that I won’t need to buy any more this year!

I had a couple of advent calendars with no products which I didn't ope and they ended up in the recycling after Christmas. I'd completely forgotten about them!

I had a home made one as a gift which looked very pretty; behind each day/window was a small block of solid fragrant wax melt. I appreciated the gift but had no idea what to do with it. I opened one window and tried to light the 'melt' somehow but that didn't work and anyway was dangerous. I then took one block out, put it in a saucer and melted it. It did nothing and there really was no point in it being part of an Advent calendar so ended up being thrown away.

I nicked the Weleda bath milk from DD and loved it. I myself had the Look Fantastic calendar and have made a point of using lots of the makeup (I normally wouldn't). I especially like the Anastasia beveley Hill smascara.

I am also enjoying the Rituals body scrub, and oooh the This Works Deep Sleep body cocoon, gorgeous.

Pixie glow tonic. I have combination skin, oily on nose and chin, very dry on forehead and this really does smooth everything out and leave my skin looking fresh.

ferretface · 31/01/2021 18:17

Silver skin saviour by Omorovicza - from my LF calendar, seems like a salon quality effect.

I also liked Drunk Elephant lala retro creme fouettee but not entirely sure my skin agreed with it, it seemed great initially but then my skin got dry but could have just coincided with weather change/maybe too much exfoliants. Possibly need to try another sample size as I did really like the non greasy texture.

I had the Lumene one (having never heard of the brand before) and found it great - there are lots of things in there I would buy again if I didn’t have such a huge stash! I like the Vitamin C range and the pressed serum and cream especially. The mascara is also great and I am super picky with mascaras normally.

From Liberty I love the Decree cleanser, I’ve been using it soooo slowly. Aromatherapy Associates oils are also great. And the Augustinus Bader Rich cream is amazing but £££!

Elemis rose cleansing balm
By Terry lip balm
Glow recipe banana moisturiser
Oskia lactic acid
Elemis peel

clary · 31/01/2021 19:49

btw I meant to say that I didn't have the Elemis AC but I have had the Rose cleansing balm in a goody bag before and I totally love it!

AprilLady · 31/01/2021 21:03

There are still quite a few products I haven’t tried, but so far from Fortnum and Mason:

I’ve loved the Ilapothecary hand and body cream which I will buy algain. Also the Lucia Magnani moisturiser which is unfortunately too expensive to repurchase, as it was a perfect formulation for my combination skin and made a noticeable difference to its appearance.

I’ve also enjoyed the Sol de Janeiro hand cream and lip butter, the Chantecaille Rose de Mai cream, the Noble Isle body cream, the Le Prunier oil and the Cult 51 neck and décolletage cream. I had very low expectations for this, but actually it was lovely to use and made my skin noticeably softer. Another product too expensive to buy again though Sad

From Net a Porter I really loved the Mauli oil cleanser - lovely smell and effective at make-up removal.

AprilLady · 31/01/2021 21:06

@clary, I also got the Elemis rose cleansing balm in a different collection and am thoroughly enjoying using it.

SymphonyofShadows · 31/01/2021 21:10

Quite a few bits yet to try as I’m using up open things, but I love the Kat Von D mascara from Glossybox

JMAngel1 · 01/02/2021 10:09

Any good face masks?

ChequerBoard · 01/02/2021 14:59

Not from an advent calendar but I have been loving the Peter Thomas Roth masking minis kit I had for Xmas. So much so I have bought another couple to keep in for my weekly mask session. The rose stem cell mask is incredible, it makes a visible difference to the tone and clarity of my skin. I also love the cucumber gel mask, on days when my skin feels dry, this has fixed the problem.

They are in the Harvey Nicks sale at the moment so good value too!

I had the Lumene calendar and have been very surprised to find I'm really liking the black eyeliner pen. Not worn eyeliner for years and wasn't going to use it but tried it on a whim and it's great! Their mascara is also really nice.
