I usually have my roots done at the hairdressers every 5 weeks but my appt at beginning of Dec was cancelled as i had to isolate then lock down happened with no sign of hairdressers opening I’m considering doing it myself as roots about 2 inches long and I’m so grey! . My hair is naturally dark brown but I’ve been blonde for years as I’m in 50s I’m grey too - very grey at the front so covering dark roots and lots of grey ! Are there any temporary colours I could try out first ? Any recommendations. TIA !

I have the same problem with roots in my highlighted hair.

I used a Josh Wood kit yesterday (the lightest blonde plus champagne shade shot) to cover greys in root growth.

I am actually very impressed - it looks natural and shiny. Not too light (not bleach), but all much brighter, with lighter tones where the grey was. This may spell the end of salon visits for me!

Realised you wanted a temporary solution!
Check out his website for the root cover-up (I've not tried this) 🙂

Great did you dye all over or just roots ? Can’t see how I’d match just roots ?

Have you got anyone at home that would help you? Use a brush and bowl, paint just the roots taking narrow partings, to get good coverage and not overlap the colour. Try one shade lighter than you think, most people over estimate their own hair colour.

I just did the roots, then spread a little onto the ends for the last 10 mins as per his instructions.

FuturePerfect · 30/01/2021 16:57

@greeceiwwhereimdreamingof I am dark blonde/mid brown, but increasingly grey at the front!

@FuturePerfect you've done a brilliant job.

My hair is a similar colour and I use nice and easy 8. Because I've been using it for years now I can just do the roots as it blends in perfectly.
