Can I get this look with balayage? (Pic)

Here's my hair now. Originally it's a very dark ash blonde but now with a lot of grey. I want to go a very light ash blonde so that it will be less hassle to cover the greys - can I achieve this by gradually adding more and more (lighter and lighter) highlights with balayage?
