DIY haircut tips anyone?

So I’ve not had my haircut since May and missed getting it done just before this lockdown because we were self-isolating. It’s now looking truly awful and I’m thinking about taking my dog’s feathering scissors to it...

My hair is very fine and fuzzy and currently falls about 2-3” below my shoulders. I’ve read a bit about the unicorn haircut but think It needs to be more one length but with some shape around the front - so might try unicorn but from the crown of my head instead and might have to do the side bunches thing for the back.

What does everyone think? Is this a bad idea? Do I need normal hair cutting scissors?

Thanks x

olive oil deep conditioner, first. Then see if you still want to cut it. Looks like nice hair, but look a bit dry.

you could section it off, and snip a teeny bit off the ends, like 1cm max. keep the current shape, just tidy it up a little.

part it straight down the middle, and section each side into six widthways sections, and trim. easy.

You need sharp scissors and confidence.

www.wikihow.com/Cut-Your-Own-Long-Hair or look for tutorials.

Section it off into little low ponytails and cut the same amount off each one. Cut less than you intend the first time.

Read bad things about the unicorn (mullet related Grin), so later today I’m going to watch the Brad Mondo tutorials on YouTube. Can’t advise on how good he is cos I’ve not watched yet but heard good reviews so, giving it a go! And yes, do buy proper scissors, makes a huge difference, I’ve been doing DDs and DHs hair since last March, I’m pretty good - fingers crossed that translates to doing my own.
