Teenage daughter has several of these on her forehead and cheeks.
She’s used those sticky strips and tried gentle exfoliation.
Can anyone suggest anything ?
Could it be to do with using fake tan ?

It could be the fake tan. I'd suggest getting a blackhead remover device, it's like a mini vacuum. Then suggest she uses wash off bronzer on her face and not fake tan.

I used to get quite a lot of black heads. I started using this and i really noticed a difference.

An AHA or BHA (chemical exfoliant) might be better. This is one I use currently out of stock here but might be available elsewhere, fairly gentle, she shouldn't use everyday initially, maybe 2 or 3 times a week www.lookfantastic.com/cosrx-bha-blackhead-power-liquid-100ml/11401180.html

She should use stuff that says 'non comodegenic' as this does not clog pores. There may be fake tan that has these properties.

Thanks everyone, we will try them all !

DO NOT get a blackhead removing device. The suction is far too harsh and will damage her young skin.

Paulas Choice BHA Liquid 2% 2-3 times a week after cleansing.

I have nothing helpful to say but dd has had a huge blackhead on the side of her nose for a couple of months. Nothing would shift it.

It sort of lifted last night and she got it. It was huge. More than a mere blackhead but a big hard ball of 'matter'.

I was both upset that I wasn't there for the final moment but proud that she brought it to show me post excavation

Farewell Jeremy the blackhead, we will miss you.

I appreciate that skincare has moved on.... but as a teenager (yes, this was 20 odd years ago) I had TERRIBLE blackheads. My nose was practically a solid wall of black. My skin is naturally very dry so it wasn't an oily thing.

What sorted me out was using a very gentle milk cleanser followed by a toner and them moisturiser. the woman at the beauty counter I went to insisted the toner was absolutely essential (non alcoholic one) and that any kind of product designed to sort of strip the skin was bad. It's interesting because subsequently, toner definitely has not been a feature of my life. But sure enough, within a relatively short time, the blackheads started reducing and then were gone and have never returned.

I'd be tempted to replicate with something like a miccellar water as a cleanser and a good moisturiser for her skin type after.

I would get Vichy gel Cleanser then a light moisturiser like Hada Labo and Paula Choice BHA 2-3 times a week after cleanse

No scrubs or anything harsh

Karmagoat · 27/01/2021 13:09

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution used once or twice a week

This - definitely Paula’s Choice. You can buy travel sizes on cult beauty and it lasts for much longer than you think. Apply with (clean) fingers not cotton wool to use less.
Pearlessence · 28/01/2021 21:33

Double cleanse (first with oil cleanser), a gel cleanser (or an oil cleanse again). I second the Coryx BHA (blackhead power lotion) it is quite strong through (4%). Alternative and cheaper version of the paulas choice BHA is the BHA by revolution. I don't rate the ordinary BHA/AHA or the revolution copy, but my skin can take a lot.

Is this the right thing?
