In desperate need of a bikini wax ( usually have it done professionally). Going to use hot wax , the stuff you peel off without strips. Any tips for the bum crack area ? How do I do it myself ?? And, yes. I am female . Blush

Top tip - DON’T! Surely a very close trim with a trimmer will suffice until you can see a professional 😂

Mingkong · 25/01/2021 22:15

Grin Jesus, that sounds worse ! Hope I give a few of you some laughs if nothing else 🤣

No advice. But where did you get the hot wax from? (I need so much self care...)

SCALPHELP · 25/01/2021 22:21

I was going to say it’s impossible to give yourself a bikini wax, but if you regularly get waxed, you can probably tolerate the pain and know how to hold your skin taut etc.

I think it will be really difficult and painful regardless as it’s more difficult than you think you to lay flat and keep your skin taut whilst being able to see what you’re doing!

MyHairNeedsASnip · 25/01/2021 22:21

I tried. It was too runny. It dripped. Utterly terrifying. Am now hairy.

Just. Back. Away. Slowly.....Good!

Self waxing was a horrendous experience which left wax all over me and the bathroom. Not to mention the emergency bath I had to have to try and ease the strip out of my ass crack.

I'm not sure I can quite contort myself into a suitable position anyway , so might have to give it a miss . My new username will be "Rapunzelass'

Genius 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fear not, you are not alone!

PositiveLife · 25/01/2021 22:42

Christ, I'm impressed you've done your bikini line. I can't do any bloody waxing on myself at all. I hardly feel any pain when it's done by a professional but I just can't do it myself - wax ends up too hot or cold, then too thick and it's just a nightmare.

Acatnamedfox · 25/01/2021 22:43

I started waxing during lockdown 1.0, I get really bad ingrown hairs and waxing really helps stay on top of it.

After some tried and tested methods here is what works pretty well for me:

  • Veet essential oils wax, I thinks it’s called that? Or oriental oils or something? I found this really didn’t hurt that much as it’s oily and made my skin super soft and when I spill it (I get it everywhere) it wipes off really easily with a warm cloth! I got it from Superdrug but I think asos do it too!
  • I brought proper wax sheets off eBay, 100 for like £3 the wax pot comes with these flimsy folded ones that are super naff and don’t really work. The wax paper sheets are a game changer!
  • Heat wax in microwave for 45 seconds, then stir lots, and leave the very one comes with a little stick that tells you if it’s to hot I usually wait 15mins until it’s still easy to stir but doesn’t drip off the spatula. I also test on the back of my hand quickly before. You can also heat it on the hob but I feel like this is asking for trouble..
  • I then get a small mirror, take it off the wall and head to the bathroom and lock the door! I do the front (you know all the V bit) standing up pulling taught and then sit on the floor performing various gymnastic style moves to do all the underneath which is actually the least painful bit! Honest!

Sorry this was so weirdly in depth but I hope it helps x

Acatnamedfox · 25/01/2021 22:45

Takes me about 30 mins to become as smooth as a dolphin x

Sal1977 · 25/01/2021 22:46

So I specialise in intimate waxing. I carry out a Brazilian/Hollywood every 15 minutes when we're working at full speed.

It IS possible to give yourself a full wax using hot wax, a mirror and a bit of courage.

HOWEVER.

It's almost bloody impossible to wax your own bum crack completely. I've tried this week in fact.

You can get most of it by laying on your back with both legs round your ears. Do one side at a time. It's the bit between your bum hole and your coccyx that I just can't seem to get very well. You need 3 hands. One to hold your bum cheeks, one to stretch the skin and one to pull the wax off.

I've left that little bit. I think of it as a foxy tail.Wink

If you want any other tips, just shout. Grin

Mingkong · 25/01/2021 22:57

Jesus Christ @Sal1977. Every 15 mins !! God help us. I've never been brave enough to have more than a high leg. Thanks for the tips .....can't you snip the tail with a scissors??🤣

OP posts:
Sal1977 · 26/01/2021 00:28

I think my bum cheeks are too fat to fit scissors in between them! 😆😆😁

Separating your bum cheeks whilst snipping whilst looking at the mirror image.... holy hellhole. 🤯

StarlightLady · 26/01/2021 04:39

Must it be a wax, given the current situation? I achieve all off with Veet Sensitive and instead of using the plastic thingy, go for a little “coaxing” with a Venus Raspberry razor.

IHaveBrilloHair · 26/01/2021 04:47

Front with an epilator, the rest with a razor and king of shaves oil.
I tried to wax myself once, almost sealed myself shut and removing the wax was not fun.
Never again.

Mingkong · 26/01/2021 06:00

Oh God, I'm having a good laugh if nothing else!!! Veet breaks me out in an awful rash , even the sensitive one . As regards razors, not sure I want to go down the road of a stubbly arse crack......

OP posts:
LadyTruck · 26/01/2021 06:06

I too have a hairy arse crack! I can't wax it. I've tried so many times & end up waxing together my arse cheeks. I do have a fat arse so maybe that's the issue 🤔
