Winter boots

I'm after some stylish but practical winter boots to get me to and from work. Not wellies or walking boots but something flat with a good tread. I travel in from a suburb to a city centre, so want to em to look suitable for a city.

Thank you but they might be too fashionable for me. Looking for something a bit more classic.

What styles do you like? I've got a pair of Solovair dealer boots that are fantastic in crappy weather and go with anything - not cheap but very well made.

I've just ordered another pair in a different style (monkey) which I hope will be as good.

I've got some Clark's Orinoco but fancied trying something else. I've had them for 3 years, so they are on their last legs.

I'm quite liking the Saint and Sofia Balham biker boot. But the Saint and Sofia reviews are terrible.

Oh, have you looked at Camper? They do a few pairs in that sort of style and I think they make fantastic boots.

Some might be too ‘sporty’ looking but Sorel do great winter boots.

I'll have a look, thank you.

Dr Martin Chelsea boots?

GrumpyHoonMain · 24/01/2021 21:15

I work in the city and have my eye on russell and bromley’s knee high chelsea boots. But I think you still need a pair of stylish office shoes with them if you have important meetings

SittinOnTheDockOfTheBay · 24/01/2021 21:26

@GrumpyHoonMain

Yes, it's just really for the walk to the metro link and then the walk from the metro link to work.

I love my Dublin's. I have a tall pair that go up to the knee, and a calf length pair. The tall ones are particularly good in cold or wet weather as more of your leg is covered.

DH bought them for me Christmas 2014. I've had them reheeled three times (I'm hard on my heels) at £15 a time. Well worth the investment as there still going strong.
These are the tall ones

Or slightly cheaper here

I can't find the short height ones to link to sadly.

They're very versatile. I've worn mine round cities, in country parks, to Iceland in the middle of January, up snowy mountains etc. They might not be the style you're looking for, but I go for practical over fashion in the cold and wet.

Have a look at Ecco. There are lots of styles in the sale,

This is the kind of thing I'm looking for. S&F are expensive and not great quality though.
