Marble coffee table with kids? regrets?

hi, i know this might be in the wrong section of MN, but i wanted to ask if anyone regret buying a marble coffee table? I currently moved to my own place and am pregnant with DS1, and have been thinking loads of which coffee table to buy. Lots of people have advised not to buy glass coffee table as he might throw stuff on it later/ break it. I also dont like the looks of wood so thats not an option. My husband does not want to buy anything MDF because it's toxic, and nothing with just an external layer of faux marble for example as they tend to peel and start to bubble quite quickly. it seems like i dont have much options and am now considering a marble coffe table as it is most robust, but am just a bit worried about stains etc. anyone has any experience with this/ regrets? thanks

I had a marble coffee table and side tables when DC were young. I had no issues with them staining at all but we do use coasters so that probably helped. In fact the tables are all still going strong and wearing well. My mum has them now

I'd be more concerned them tripping up and cracking their head on marble - not very forgiving.

Ooh, that went all blue, sorry.
