Dyeing baby clothes (over pink)

Hi. I'm due a baby girl in April. We've just bought a massive bundle of nice second hand clothes from a friend, from birth to a year - sorted! Anyway there's around 20 baby vests and sleepsuits and they're all baby pink. I've got nothing against pink but it's just a bit too much for me. I know the baby won't care/it won't matter but I'd love to try dyeing some of them. I'm not going to buy more stuff in different colours that we just don't need but if I can add some variety to the pink I'd be happy! I'm thinking more darker mink pinks, burgandy, even orange? Has anyone ever tried this that could advise me? They're all cotton. Washing machine dye or hand dye? Any tips? Is it safe?

Yes,it possible and quite easy.
I had lots of white stuff that was not super white anymore (sleepsuits/vest etc).I had 3 boys before my daughter was born.
I just chucked everything in the washing machine and it was brilliant.
I am also not fan of pink so I've chosen burgundy. It was dyed very evenly and didn't bleed in subsequent washes.
I used Dylon Burlesque Red.

I've done machine dye and hand dye before (the dylon ones) and both worked well. I died old lilac towels a bright blue, and they're still a nice blue cough only 20 years later! They're our scruffy utility towels now, mind.
I've also dyed baby stuff navy (because it's my favourite colour) in the machine- if they're cotton there'll be no problems. I did run an empty wash afterwards to make sure all the dye had gone.

Thanks both. Dylon do a burgandy/red and navy is a good shout as well. I've got nothing to lose I don't think!
