I'm in a bit of a rut (aren't we all!) I didn't buy any boots this year - or any clothes really - because I haven't really needed anything.

But, I'm feeling bored and in need of a boost and I've got my eye on a pair of these Solovair monkey boots in oxblood. uk.nps-solovair.com/products/s7-116-ox-g?countrycode=GB&variant=32618253484112

I've already got some of their brown dealer/Chelsea boots that I love, but that's all I'm wearing at the moment so another option would be nice.

So, is the oxblood nice? Or too faddy? I guess black would be more sensible, but I don't really wear black boots. And do you think they'll be ok with jeans, as that's all I'm wearing at the moment?

They're not cheap, so I'm very open to other suggestions! Thank you!

I expected a really boring thread...

I like the astronaut boot in rub off burgundy, so I'd get those.

If you don't wear black boots don't buy them in black.

Your dealer boots are probably enough really but if you can afford the monkey boots and love them, get them.

V nice but would be better with some burgundy laces.

KirstenBlest · 22/01/2021 16:28

I had a look at them on Solovair and I think I'd go for the Astronaut in burgundy rub-off or maybe Monkey in oxblood, walnut or burgundy.

The monkey boots are sold by Toast too, but they might be slightly different, and I think that Margaret Howell sold them too.

Thank you. I've ordered some, but promised myself I'll send them back if I don't really love them.

Buying things at full price feels very decadent, I'm usually a sales and second hand shopper. But I'm making an effort to buy less and really use and enjoy what I do get.

Exciting!

My Solovairs came from ebay. One pair were brand new, the other pair used but looked new. Both were a fraction of the RRP.

I got rid of my DMs and got Solovairs instead because the quality is so much better.

Quick update, because I always enjoy threads with an ending!

They're here, and I like them! Need a bit of breaking in (slightly tight across the front) but so did my last pair and I don't think it took too long. I think they're going to get plenty of wear.
