A bit of help with dd’s afro hair

Dd usually has her hair braided as she likes it long. I need to take her current braids out this weekend and do her hair myself until hairdressers reopen.
I have looked on you tube and haven’t found any style that would be doable for me as I can’t do braids myself- keep trying but just doesn’t seem to look right.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction to find protective styles I can do- she’s in school so ideally quick ones! Could give some tips/advice and recommend a product (s), particularly for her edges as I don’t want to use gel after being told it breaks her hair! I use cantu leave in moisturiser for her (amongst other things) but it doesn’t keep her edges neat.
She is 11 but wouldn’t be able to do her own hair (has special needs)

There are some knowledgeable posters on Style and Beauty.

Thanks- how could I get the post moved to there please?

Alternatively try the Black Mumsnetters section.

Above you original post there is something that says 'Report'.
Report your own post and ask it to be moved.

Would I be better asking about moving this thread again? Just for a little advice or a point in the right direction...

As you aren't getting replies here then I would def suggest moving the thread again as the BM board seems quite busy.

I know you have already checked out YouTube but have you seen a YouTube called Lannie Bass? She does some very simple hair styles but I’m not sure if they would work for older kids or if your daughter would like them. Also maybe you could look up on google protective style no braids then look up a tutorial for specific styles with no braids on YouTube.

Is her hair long enough to put in two cornrows / French plaits? If so, that might work for a few days at a time and you wouldn't need much tension at all, if you don't need them to look professional...?

Just start another thread on the Black Mumsnet section so you are covered in both areas.

Practice makes perfect so after a while you'll be a pro I'm sure.
