Skinny jeans... or what else?

A style rut questions for you lovely lot:

I am 5'7" and a size 10.

I live in skinny or straight leg jeans. I tried wide leg trousers to make a change and I love them. But. I walk the dog twice a day and keep going back to skinnies because they are so easy to tuck into my wellies.
What else can I try?

Not sure I am a leggings girl. The term jeggings is a bit 🤨 so I'm not sure about them.

I am really keen to ring the changes and ditch the skinnies but they are oh so practical.

I wear straight leg ankle grazers for work but want something comfortable and practical for home.

I also look at Instagram ladies wafting around in dresses, lovely idea, but not when the mud is calf deep!

Please help!

I am wondering if the thick tights and a shortish skirt is the way forward

I could have wrote this! I’m exactly the same shape too. I’m always still in my welly socks despite taking the dog out hours ago!

I live in leggings (good quality) they are 10x comfier than jeans for me. I like a nice thick waistband that holds you in gently rather than a thin elastic top which gives me a muffin top! 7/8 length showing a bit of ankle looks nice I think

Where do you get your leggings from? I am thinking of wearing leggings/thick tights with a stretchy mini skirt.
I have been in my thermal waterproof dog walking trousers all day. Hardly S&B!

When it's really wet and muddy, I wear leggings and shorts/skirt to walk the dog, with wellies naturally.

3boysNeedABiggerKitchen · 20/01/2021 21:11

@XingMing where do you get your leggings a bed skirts?
I would like to find some thick, no baggy knee, no falling down ones!
I don't know where to start with skirts. I have seen people wearing short, stretchy skirts which look great but have no idea where to find them online

I used to wear skinny jeans or leggings all the time but actually now I just tuck my wide legs into my socks/boots although the mud round my walk isn't calf deep countryside mud...but townie park mud Wink I also do boots and thick tights and a skirt.

And I don't have a dog so can choose the nicer paths.

Sickoffamilydrama · 20/01/2021 21:17

Pressed send to soon.

You could try straight, tapered, balloon leg jeans/trousers tucked into wellies/boots I could see that working especially if your walks are like near my DM and flooded and seas of mud half the year.

I have winter running tights from Ronhill, and some double-skin x-country skiing tights that I bought DS for kayaking in winter. Neither falls down or goes baggy at the knee. The shorts are ancient cargo shorts from Best Mountain, and the skirt is generally an old ruched mini from Hush.

XingMing · 20/01/2021 21:24

The skiing tights came from a company called Icon Watersport, bought online.

@XingMing I have an old hush dress with ruched skirt in the wardrobe somewhere... will dig that out and give my new outfit idea a whirl! Thank you

I don’t buy much from M n S these days but really rate their treggings, jeggings and stretchy trousers - especially as I’m quite long in leg despite being short
The patterned ones can be quite thick I have grey herringbone pattern and some navy check ones which go well with knee length boots and a cashmere jumper
I also have animal print and suede effect ones

XingMing · 21/01/2021 16:13

I hope it worked for you 3Boys.... it would be even better if it had a pocket somewhere, but it's soft and stretchy and washable!

Beachlovingirl · 21/01/2021 17:52

I have just bought some tapered leg mom from topshop and absolutely love them.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 21/01/2021 17:55

I ended up buying fleece-lined jeans and wear those every day because I walk the dogs every day and it's COLD. Anything else is just not warm enough. And there's no way I'll get changed twice a day when I walk the dogs. But I really miss wearing pretty clothes.

3boysNeedABiggerKitchen · 21/01/2021 21:41

@BarryWhiteIsMyBrother, yup. I end up staying in my fleece lined waterproof trousers all day because it is easier. So unglamorous!
I am going to try the tights and skirt option. Just didn't brave it today in the relentless hammering rain.
