Nice Wellies for HUMONGOUS calves?

I’m looking for recommendations for a new pair of wellies that are as comfy as wellies can be, but that will also accommodate my chunky calves! So I guess they need to be quite short?

Dubarry ExtraFit might work, waterproof leather boots that will last for years. Dublin do a wide fit too for about a third of the price

Thisisnotwhatiwant · 20/01/2021 19:28

Muck boots... warm, comfy and neoprene so will fit your calves. Roll down so easy to put on.

Cherry321 · 20/01/2021 21:34

Jileon are good for wide calves and not bonkers expensive.

Yes, I've got Jileon ones and my calves are mahoosive, I got the half height ones too because I also have the world's shortest legs, yay me!

They are expensive true - but otherwise I wouldn't be able to wear wellies.

MaggieFS · 20/01/2021 21:42

Another vote for Jileon.

TheRedShoes75 · 20/01/2021 21:43

Third the Jileon wellies. Good for huge calves and super comfy too.

addicted2spaniels · 20/01/2021 21:44

I had Jileon and they were terrible - festival type wellies. Didn't last a year and they were horribly uncomfortable to walk in.

Aigle do a Parcours for wider calves, and Muck Boots are a good fit. I've got a pair of both and walk for an hour twice a day in them - toasty warm feet and well supported ankles. They're worth the investment.

TigerDroveAgain · 20/01/2021 21:50

Oh very timely! I have Dubarry extra fit which are lovely but at the end of their life and I don’t really want to spend quite so much replacing them. Jileon look perfect

AfterSchoolWorry · 20/01/2021 21:52

I got normal ones and cut a slit down the back!

CarmenSanDiego2020 · 20/01/2021 21:53

More practical than pretty but the shorter dunlops are great. Last forever

converseandjeans · 20/01/2021 22:00

I buy ankle length wellies from Joules.

RidingMyBike · 20/01/2021 22:30

I couldn't get into regular fit wellies! They won't go all the way up as my calves are too big! I found some Radley plain green ones with a gusset you can adjust with a strap and they are so much more comfy! I had to let the strap out quite a bit.

DareIask · 20/01/2021 23:50

Amazon.. wide leg wellies

Dilbertian · 21/01/2021 00:02

The shorter Dunlops are very good for chunky calves. I used them for years, until I bought a pair of neoprene wellies from Mountain Warehouse. Oh. My. So comfy and so warm. And I can tuck my trouser legs in, too!

ElspethFlashman · 21/01/2021 10:42

The Aigle Parcours That has the vent bit on the side. I have calves like a Premier League footballer and can wear the thickest trousers inside those.

Always buy on sale!

albird · 21/01/2021 13:46

Another vote for Aigle Parcours Vario - with the adjustable strap at side - mine have lasted 6 years with twice daily use in the winter. I did see them for £108 somewhere - no need to pay full price.

MrsMaryClausFace · 21/01/2021 13:53

Aigle Parcours with just the zip at the side. You don't need to do the zip all the way up, I can't on mine but they look good regardless. Neoprene lined and very comfy.

These. Where the slit is at the side, opens up a large vent. I zip mine up about halfway, never seen anyone wear them fully zipped!

Thank you so much everyone! So much to look at!

I have huge calves and got wellies from Evans for less than £30
