Anti Aging for 30 year old?

WynterRose · 18/01/2021 14:19

I wanted to start protecting my skin from lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes.

I have in the past purchased Loreal Revitalift with Hyaluronic acid but stopped using after a few weeks because it irritated my eyes. My eyes can be quite sensitive.

At present, I only use a Night Cream with aloe vera. Whilst it keeps my skin looking clean and mostly spot free, I've no idea if it is protecting against aging.

I have considered getting a Vitamin E eye cream, but what is the best for Sensitive eyes for slowing aging or reducing/preventing lines?

You need a proper sunblock

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 18/01/2021 15:18

You need to just accept aging and enjoy your unique face as it is.

I'm 44 with good skin & minimal lines.

I've always worn a moisturiser (usually with anti-aging properties) that contains spf15 or spf20 protection.
Sunscreen is the best anti ageing ingredient there is.

At age 30 I had a very good job so I think I used a Clinique moisturiser that had spf20.
Now I use Boots No7 protect & perfect spf15 day cream.

If I'm in the sun for over half an hour I wear a facial sun lotion instead of my day cream- I like Boots No7 spf30 facial sun lotion but I'm considering using spf50 in future.

I'm a bit bad because all day creams, facial sun lotions & moisturisers I've used state 'not for use near the eyes' but I always put a bit on my eyelids & under my eyes, I'm just v careful not to get it in my eyes.
Hardly any actual eye creams contain sun protection.

I also wear sunglasses in the sun which protect you from wrinkles round the eyes & help to stop cataracts.

I started wearing an anti ageing skin serum under my day cream about 2 years ago but you may not need that at 30.

@WishingHopingThinkingPraying

Why? Confused

If you’re not already using a dedicated spf (spf that isn’t part of your moisturiser, foundation etc) then now is the time to start!

There are lots of SPF available now that don’t feel horrible on your face. I use heliocare 360 but la Roche posey and frezyderm are nice too. You can get them on Amazon. You should wear spf even in winter.

Glycolic acid, retinol, HA, SPF..... don't be afraid to slather your face with oil before bed too!

Howzaboutye · 18/01/2021 23:34

SPF every single day
Eucerin retinol serum at night, then a rosehip oil after.

sofiaaaaaa · 18/01/2021 23:35

Sunscreen is 🔑

QueenPawPaws · 19/01/2021 00:29

SPF. Prescription retinol (skin and me or dermatica)
Expensive but verso retinol eye serum

violetbunny · 19/01/2021 08:20

Yes, to sunscreen
I've worn it daily since my 20s. I turn 40 this year and believe me it makes a difference!

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/01/2021 08:24

I put all my retinol products & sunblock around my eyes. I don’t use eye creams etc I think they cause puffiness that stretches the skin out of shape.

Weak skins going to sag isn’t it?.

gradetoolisted · 19/01/2021 08:36

Retinol and spf are the only things that will help actually stop progression. Topical hyaluronic sometimes plumps temporarily and if you use it make sure it’s one with multiple sized molecules as some are just too big to do any good. The Ordinary does a decent hyaluronic serum, and Paula’s Choice as well.

Thank you for your suggestions.

My foundation has SPF in it, but i'm guessing this isn't enough.
I will invest in an SPF, but I hate the feel of suncream on my face. :( Can anyone suggest a good, light SPF? That will stay Matte under makeup.

Hyaluronic acid and retinol are both relatively unforgiving on sensitive skin. I prefer Niacinamide as the key anti ageing ingredient in products as it doesn't trouble me. I'm a big fan of Olay Total Effects SPF30 because of the SPF. And I use a separate eye cream underneath first.

doadeer · 19/01/2021 20:29

Retinol and SPF are key

I don't wear foundation so I can't advise on what suncream goes well but I know la Roche posay is meant to be a light one.

sofiaaaaaa · 19/01/2021 20:41

I use Kiehls sunscreen (spf 50). It’s my favourite - feels just like moisturiser with no grease or white cast

Insomniacexpress · 19/01/2021 20:43

SPF in foundation isn’t enough, as it isn’t (usually!) thick enough to give adequate coverage. You’d want something you can use on your neck/chest/ears too. If you’re using retinol I think the guidance is to use more than 30spf daily.
