Stupid question about soap

We are a total convert to bar soap and are dutifully collecting any end bits that are too small to handle in soap bags.

Can we use those soap bags in the shower instead of shower gel? Basically is there any reason you can't use solid hand soaps in the shower

No reason at all why you shouldn't use soap in the shower.

I bought my mum a little crocheted soap pouch and some hand made soap as a gift when when last went on holiday. She uses it in the shower every day! Obviously has bought more soap since then! And has crocheted me a little soap pouch (which I will use once I've finished this bottle of shower gel). According to mum, just chuck all the little bits in and enjoy!
You might need to clean your shower more often, but no there reason not too :-)

I use bar soap in the shower.

Also, for hand soap I often cut big bars in half with a hot knife.. I find big bars go a bit soggy or cracked if they hang around too long.

Thanks people. I knew mumsnet would set me on the right track!

DS (SN) does better with straight soap when washing hands but isn't too good as it gets smaller so I tend to end up with a lot of small broken bits in a bag I use in the kitchen. I'm just finding the broken bits go on for ever and I'm getting a bit of a backlog!! Using them in the shower will be perfect! In the long run I'll buy soap with more of an eye to them ending up in the shower. But at the moment the soap bag contains everything from imperial leather to body shop to the random bar I found under the sink!

Ihatesandwiches is it the sissel jute bags you have or a nice soft one? I'm thinking DS might be happier with a softer one.
