How to make a shower more like a bath

tinkywinkyshandbag · 17/01/2021 20:21

I used to love a good soak in the bath but these days I can't be faffed...and the bath is in the family bathroom whereas I shower in our en suite. Usually in the morning but occasionally I think it would be nice to have an evening shower and really spa it up a bit, make it luxurious and relaxing. Any suggestions for lovely (not too expensive please) products or things to make it more spa like? Thanks.

Following, I only have a shower room and need to luxe it up a bit.

Shower steamers, I’ve never tried them, but they seem popular. Really nice shower gel, shampoo, conditioner. Then body lotion after. Big thick towels.

I like to put music on also when I’m showering.

Kids can’t have baths (epilepsy) but got them some ‘shower melts’ on Etsy which are a bit like bath bombs but for the shower. They weren’t cheap but not crazy expensive and smell amazing.

Seen a similar post once where someone said they put the plug in so it fills while showering and put some drops of essential oils in. I like the idea but don't like the feeling of a clogged shower so have never tried it!

Shortysoso · 17/01/2021 20:31

These are the ones I got - one sleepy or unwind and another wake up as dcs like to shower at different times. They are v happy with them.

Oh sorry I missed that it's a separate shower and not a shower/bath 🙈 I apologise

Essential oils on a damp flannel just out the stream of water or flick some on the shower wall
Aromatherapy associates do good oils you can put on your skin then shower after
Bioderma shower oil
A coffee scrub (too messy for a bath!)

AliceinBunniland · 17/01/2021 20:44

A nice shower gel or shower oil

I love the loccitane lavender but maybe better for evening showers
The loccitane almond shower oil is nice

I got a shower bomb in an advent calendar. Will check the brand if you're interested but haven't tried it yet

A nice shower coffee scrub could be nice in a morning

I love ESPA scents so some of their shower products

Overall just make the space nice, clean and inviting

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/01/2021 20:51

Essential oils on a small cloth or just drop some onto the base of the shower and the steam should throw the scent around the space.

We sometimes hang fresh eucalyptus from our shower head, it release the essential oils and has a fresh scent.

Also scrubs too if you want a bit of a spa treatment, there's lots of good DIY recipes out there so no need to spend lots of £££.
I like peppermint foot scrubs, and honey & oat body scrubs.

Appuskidu · 17/01/2021 20:57

I’m glad I found this thread-I had no idea that shower melts/bombs existed!

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/01/2021 21:04

For what it's worth, I had a lush shower bomb thing and didn't rate it.. but I do like their shower jelly!

SummaLuvin · 18/01/2021 00:00

I sometimes have a sit down shower. Highly recommend.

Changi · 18/01/2021 00:04

I one stayed in a holiday let which had a bath that was the same footprint as a shower. It had a built in seat, if I remember correctly.

KirstenBlest · 18/01/2021 12:02

Sit down shower.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 18/01/2021 20:09

Hi all, can't sit down in my shower as it's a small cubicle, but I'm going to try wafting some essential oils around and maybe light some candles..

TheSpottedZebra · 18/01/2021 20:11

Yy to candles. Or even just shower in the dark.

tobee · 20/01/2021 03:23

Not quite what you were asking but have you thought about swapping your shower head for a rainfall shower head? I changed mine for quite a reasonably priced one from Amazon. You can get fixed head or ones that attach to a hose. Creates a nice spa feeling.

tobee · 20/01/2021 03:24

Showering in the dark sounds weird but is actually quite relaxing as I discovered when my bulb went and didn't have a replacement. Grin

tinkywinkyshandbag · 21/01/2021 17:23

@tobee thanks actually my DD's have one in "their" bathroom but I don't like going in there as it's always strewn with their shampoo bottles, razors, bath bombs and hair, so much hair...
