I'm seeing loads of adverts on social media for the Wylera Dreamwave hair curler - has anyone used one (or something similar) and would you recommend it?

I have one. It definitely works, its easy and quick to do even if you're completely cack-handed like me but it really depends what look you're after. I wanted loose, beachy waves rather than tight curls but don't seem to be able to achieve this with the Dream Wave.

I did wonder if the type of curl would be too 'Shirley Temple' - I'll stick to my big rollers for now then!

I managed to make a complete balls up of using the Dreamwave and had to cut a chunk of my hair out that got tangled inside it. The bits that I didn’t manage to mangle came out in very neat, tight curls - a bit to Grandma-ish for my taste and not what I’d hoped for.

I’ve recently ordered a Wave Wand to see if I have a bit more success with that.

Any more recent updates on this? They say on their site that you can't get hair tangled in it, which doesn't sound like it matches people's experiences here.

I have naturally curly hair that is mostly a frizzy mess, but when straightened (a bit - using the GHD Glide brush) and then curled again to make nicer curls, they often don't hold. So I thought this might work.

Do you have to straighten your hair first, or can you put frizzy hair into it and the heat helps smooth/straighten it?

Has anyone tried the compact version? It is smaller and for finer hair, which mine definitely isn't, but might make looser waves as a result? And is cheaper! They don't seem to offer any kind of try and return arrangement like lots of companies.

It sounds like people don't like the tighter spiral curls it produces, but I wonder if that lasts more than a few minutes anyway, and then falls out to looser curls as the day goes on?

Or better recommendations? Curl Secret?

I've got the round GHD heated brush as well, the Rise, and it's OK for volume but I can't really get curls that stay.

Today 14:14 Motherof3dogs

Ive used t3 single pass wave for beach waves. It is hard to do the back and never sure if I’ve got the look right plus I’ve got a fringe so not quite the same. Excuse the terrible photo!

Won't load sorry

FlattestWhite · 21/05/2021 16:18

thanks, is that a version of the same one?
The more I look at the ads, the more different ones pop up on facebook for me, and I think they are all the same one but with different brand names (and wildly varying prices), which makes me suspicious. The reviews for most of them are all absolutely glowing, which also makes me highly doubtful - though one 'brand' (looked the same as the others) had people commenting on it not charging after the first couple of times, which sounds like more realistic reviews.

I absolutely love mine, it is without doubt the best hair styler I've bought - and I have bought dozens over about 3 decades! You can change the tightness of the curl by playing around with the temperature and the timer - lower temperature for a shorter time makes pretty loose waves. I have Wylera which is the original - there are loads of cheaper copies but I'm glad I paid more as I've not had any problems with it after 6 months weekly use
