Should I splash out?

I got a promotion today with a £4.5k a year pay rise. This is massive after almost a year on reduced hours, effectively £15k a year more than I've been living on.

Would it be unreasonable to splash £250 on a new part-work/part-casual wardrobe in the sales on top of the £150 I spent earlier today Blush??

I'm sat here with an online basket and keep taking things out, putting things back in...

Absolutely reasonable. In fact, earned and deserved. Congratulations.

What are you going to get?

PrettyCherryBlossom · 14/01/2021 19:47

Congratulations!
You deserve to splash out, I hope you find some lovely clothes.

DuzzyFuck · 14/01/2021 19:52

Hooray! Thanks Ladies, after a year of watching every penny I think I just needed the permission from a third party Smile

I'm buying up half of the Sugarhill Boutique sale. The bits I got today were also from there and they fit perfectly and the quality is lovely. I'm long overdue a good wardrobe refresh and I'll spend some time at the weekend having a clear out of old tired stuff in anticipation :)

3 Jumpers, 2 dresses, a pair of wide-leg trousers, a dinosaur(!) skirt and a very bold jumpsuit!

Congratulations! You definitely deserve a treat!

waltzingparrot · 14/01/2021 20:24

Don't want to sound like your mother, but are any of them impulse buys, because they're such a bargain, that will just hang in the back of the wardrobe Grin

DuzzyFuck · 14/01/2021 20:25

@waltzingparrot I have run them all by my Mother and she is concerned by the shape of the trousers but otherwise approves Grin

On one proviso...
We get to see what you buy!?

caperplips · 15/01/2021 09:01

Congratulations on your promotion! I think it's really important to update your work wardrobe & celebrate your success! Plus you'll feel great in your new role when you're dressed in all your new style. It will add to your confidence!
Good luck & happy shopping - tell us what you buy!

DuzzyFuck · 15/01/2021 09:18

Okay here are the highlights....

My work in a non-corporate industry with a smart casual dress code so shirt dress and boots at this time of year is fine.

Next I need to work on my hair. I usually look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. Hairdressers closed of course so I'll have to get on YouTube and try and master some neat styles!

Lovely OP you will look great!
If you have long hair perhaps you can practice some nice casual upstyles
Well wear & congratulations again!

FourTurnings · 15/01/2021 19:15

Am loving the jumpsuit!

Bloodhoundgang · 15/01/2021 19:30

Congratulations on the promotion!

The dinosaur skirt is amazing. I'm going to look one up now.
Can I ask what style footwear are you going to pair it with??

DuzzyFuck · 15/01/2021 20:46

@Bloodhoundgang In winter probably with flat knee-high boots (I've got black and brown versions of the below) or shorter lace up boots and tights.

When it's warmer then converse in a co-ordinating colour, or plain white trainers? Or sandals/flip flops.
