Online prescription glasses shop

I'm looking to get some new glasses and would like to try an online shop as I've heard they are quite good. However I'd like some nice glasses, not your bog-standard frames. Something more interesting in terms of shapes or colours. Could anyone recommend any? THank you.

Bumping for you as I'm interested too. I've just cancelled my order with specsavers as I didn't like any of their frames. (Which ended up being really expensive, they bamboozle you with 'offers' so you can't think ........or see!)

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 14/01/2021 18:14

I have used Glasses Direct, very reasonable and they have a wide range of frames. You can try before you buy too.

SomewhatBored · 14/01/2021 18:16

Yes, Glasses direct are reliable and inexpensive and as pp said you can try on and return.

Article in today's Guardian on this very subject www.theguardian.com/fashion/gallery/2021/jan/14/specs-appeal-how-to-buy-glasses-online-in-pictures

I just got two pairs from Bloobloom and am very happy with them.

majesticallyawkward · 14/01/2021 18:49

Select specs. Me and dh have used them for years and always had a great experience.

WeirdLoverWilde · 14/01/2021 19:45

I've just recommended firmoo.co.uk on another thread and now I feel like an advert Grin First pair free (you only pay the postage). I've got six pairs including three pairs of sunglasses and they cost less than one pair from Specsavers (they start at £5). They take a couple of weeks to arrive but they're well worth the wait.

MindYourLanguage · 14/01/2021 19:48

Select Specs here too! Good range and great pricing. It has enabled me to have lots of different styles and colours, and also have tinted lens and prescription sunglasses which I couldn't afford before.
I have just had my first pair of progressive lens with them and they couldn't be better - although my eyes could!

SoDiorDarling · 14/01/2021 21:12

I just used www.shadestation.co.uk

Got some amazing huge Dior geek glasses for a bargain price. You just upload a pic of your prescription and they sort the lens for you.

Catcrazy008 · 14/01/2021 22:07

@WeirdLoverWilde, had a look on the firmoo site, how do I get pair free with postage?

ZaraW · 15/01/2021 18:00

Cubitts or Bailey & Nelson.

goose1964 · 15/01/2021 21:04

To a pp, my last pair of Specsavers glasses were free once they added their offers.

howsoonisnow85 · 15/01/2021 21:06

Can you use your contact lens prescription to buy does anyone know, or are glasses different?

smoothchange · 15/01/2021 21:08

I have seen great frames online but my glasses usually need a lot of adjustment when I get them so I have never bought that way.

IveNameChangedAgain2020 · 15/01/2021 21:15

I LOVE ace and tate and have bought loads of lovely glasses from them (although I hate glasses and wear contacts 😂). They also do "try before you buy", so take a look, order them to try and home and then order what you like. Brilliant service.

MenaiMna · 15/01/2021 21:26

Another vote for glasses direct. Very happy with them for three years and I have complex Rx. Get yr vouchers online or in the site. Choose your stuff then try applying different codes to see what gets you lowest price - if you have a friend who uses them they can get you £45 introduction voucher (or dm me?). Recently got two pr varifocals £218. They don't take NHS vouchers though.

Alocasia · 16/01/2021 07:19

@howsoonisnow85 your glasses prescription is most often NOT the same as your contact lens prescription. So don’t use your contact lens prescription.
To anyone ordering varifocals or anyone with a anything other than a low prescription, ordering glasses online can be a bad idea.

letsmakethetea · 16/01/2021 07:23

Firmoo! They have some amazing choices, really interesting/unique frames and excellent prices too.
