High waisted cuffed trousers

I am looking for high waisted cuffed trousers, something that would be nice for work or days out. I am so bored of skinny black jeans. I've realised recently that I look good in high waisted styles, but I hate things flapping about my ankles so I would love something that has cuffs. No particular budget in mind, I'll spend money on something that I actually like and will wear if it is decent material.

Some thicker material would be ideal, I bought a pair of harem pant type things and they're nice but way too chilly.

I am short and a size 8.

And shoes to go with them? I really loathe the smart trousers with trainers look, but can't be arsed with heels every day. All the brogues I see these days look cheap and nasty.

Sweaty Betty Gary yoga pants

Actual cuffs, not just tapered? www.arket.com/en_sek/women/trousers/product.wool-twill-trousers-red.0938997002.html (these are tapered but no good for you if you're short, Arket is a "taller" brand IME).

FunkBus · 14/01/2021 11:29

@FlyingByTheSeatof I like them but they're way too casual for work

@banivani definitely need cuffs, I can't stand the feeling of material flapping about. And I'm 5ft, so yeah, definitely need things in a shorter brand!

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

@banivani well, no cuffs is also ok, but then it would definitely need to be very very tapered.

These are gorgeous and work worthy. Do you know any home seamstresses that could alter the bottom?theseamstressofbloomsbury.co.uk/shop/womens-1940s-authentic-vintage-style-high-waisted-trousers/

I was positive I've seen loads of trousers like this but now I can't find any. Esp in petite sizing. Well, Gudrun Sjödén always has something in this style in but her style is a ... look. Not for everyone.

Could be worth considering if it would be easier to buy straight fit trousers and have them altered to cuffs. Maybe someone else will have better tips!

FunkBus · 14/01/2021 12:06

@waltzingparrot They are nice but I definitely would never end up getting them altered!

@banivani I know, right? I felt like it wouldn't be that much of a faff, I have spent the past year in jogging bottoms and they look really nice on me, but obviously I can't work in them! But I can't find anything at all, so annoying.

I will look at Gudrun Sjödén, thanks.

Yes, something like this would be good but less baggy.

The model poses on that website are something else.

That's a fairly loose cuff all the same, and may be easier to find. I looked at Cos that always seem to have some of those things - they are a tall brand but OTOH all their trousers are fecking cropped, so might work anyway. Didn't see anything that seemed to fit the bill directly, but I'd keep a look out there and possibly Arket too, but they tend to be full-length. Fairly sure Me and Em have had something at some point? But all these are a little higher in price point. I'd look a little at H&M, you might get lucky.

EyeDrops · 14/01/2021 12:30

Following. I'm a similar height/build and have discovered a love of cuffed pyjama bottoms, so would love a smarter but comfy daytime alternative!

FunkBus · 14/01/2021 12:31

@banivani I love Cos but yeah, they do tend to be tall. Even the cropped stuff is massive on me!

I have really gone off H&M in recent years, the material is always so flimsy.

Wow, thanks! I'll have a look at them this afternoon

OP do you mean paper bag trousers?
I think they're very stylish when they're worn with a loose shirt tucked in and brogues or DMs 👍🏻

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 15/01/2021 00:59

Dorothy Perkins have few ones and they have a big sale via Debenhams

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 15/01/2021 01:05

Nice

FunkBus · 15/01/2021 01:14

@monty27 what I don't like about paper bag trousers is the fussy waist. But basically that style, yes, just without the waist.

OP posts:
Monty27 · 15/01/2021 01:20

@FunkBus but that's the elegance. They are a bit fussy so I dress them down. I really like the vibe. Particularly in khaki colours

FunkBus · 15/01/2021 01:52

@Monty27 I'm glad you like them, but I'm not a fan.

I have a previous season's version of these. They're excellent (5 ft 3). Generally pick them up on eBay. I'll see if there's a warmer version!
